A Card and More Treats!

Good morning! Quick post today as I have sick kiddos here - not sure who it will be today but we had 2 with a stomach bug yesterday so it's just a waiting game now!

I used the Clean & Simple Stamping FTL#75 to make a card using Rubber Soul stamps and paper.  I love how this turned out!  The quote is from a Rubber Soul/Wordsworth set called Peace and the paper is Meadow's Edge.  I stamped the leaf image several times in the right corner using Soft Sky, Fresh Snow and Taken With Teal inks.  I also stamped the little star block a few times using Soft Sky ink and added some tiny rhinestones to a few of them.

How about another prize package in celebration of my 3 years of blogging?!  I have a few treats courtesy of Rubber Soul including a paper pack, an alphabet set and a cute little Heart Flower stamp.

I've also included a few issues of Paper Crafts Magazine - one of them is the BRAND NEW Stamp It magazine that is just out.  I just happen to have a card in - and it's a Rubber Soul card!  :)  The whole magazine is just beautiful so if you don't win be sure to pick one up!

Leave me a comment on this post - what would you like to see more of here? what questions can I answer? how can I make this blog more helpful for you?  I'd love to know what you want to see!!  I'll pick a winner on Tuesday!  Have a great Friday my friends!

Cardstock:  White (Gina K Designs), Patterned Paper: Meadow's Edge (Rubber Soul), Stamps: Peace (Rubber Soul), Ink: Fresh Snow (Papertrey Ink), Soft Sky, Taken With Teal (SU!), Black (Memento), Accessories: White Satin Ribbon (Papertrey Ink), rhinestones (Taylored Expressions), foam adhesive

#21 is EileenMV who said  "Love the cardinal - so pretty!"   EileenMV please email with your contact information so that I can have your prize sent right out - Congrats!! Have fun with that set!

You still have time to win 2 sets from Paper Pretties - comment HERE by tomorrow night!

I will be posting at least 1 more prize soon so watch for that! :)  Now, something non-stamp related . . . .

For the last several years my husband and I have not been exchanging Christmas gifts - I know, sounds sad right?  But no really, we get gifts from our parents and we really don't need much so it's just better to not spend the extra.  Anyway, this year my sweet husband knew that I had been wanting something for a few months so he gave me the go ahead to order . . .  here is my new "mommy" necklace from Lisa Leonard Designs.  It's really called the Heartstrings Necklace. Since our family is complete with the birth of Baby O it was safe now to get something with all of their names and I decided to have her add the "j"s to the 2 hearts representing my husband and me.  I just love it!!

One more pic - Baby O has found his thumb after struggling for the last several weeks.  He tried and tried but had a hard time separating it from his fist - lol!  He's getting so big already (he was 3 months on the 9th) and is just a joy!! He sleeps great at night and we're finally into a pretty nice routine during the day.  I just wish I could stop the world for a few more months - I already miss the tiny baby part! :)

my best organizational idea/tip is how i store my cardstock scraps. i have a desk drawer with hanging folders for each SU cardstock color. in each hanging folder is a quart size baggie which holds my scraps. i am in that drawer every day that i stamp. very close at hand and easy to use.

Susanne - please email with your mailing address and your prize will be sent right out! :)

Craft storage! That's a challenge. Every year I need to re-organise my craft things. What I like most is my custom made furniture that comes with shelves, cupboards on top and bottom rows and drawers in the centre row.

and #22 is the winner of the Paper Pretties prize package

My favorite storage piece is a wood wall mounted open shelf type unit that my husband built me. It holds my inks, stamp cleaner, etc. and is mounted right above my desk on the wall because I like having everything within reach while I work.

Finally . . . Jules Jewels (aka Blog Candy!)

How about some Jules Jewels (aka Blog Candy) to take us into the weekend?? I've been hinting at this for about 2 weeks now - ever since my 2 year Blogaversary! I can't believe it's been 2 years - so much has happened, I've made sooooooo many wonderful friends and had so much fun!!

To say thank you, I have 2 different packages up for grabs (sorry I don't have photos of them today). 1) The fabulous Kitchen Sink Stamps set Swirly Hearts & Stars and a full size VersaMagic Pixie Dust ink pad and 2) the adorable Cuddle Me Sophia stamp set from Paper Pretties. I will most likely be adding a few little extra treats to each package as I clean through my stamping area this weekend!

The countertops for my space have arrived today and my brother is coming to install them this afternoon - I am SOOOOO excited!! It's been over a year now since we started this project - sometimes it pays to patient though. My brother was able to get me some really neat, rustic pine cabinets for . . . FREE!!! When we had looked at cabinets last year it was going to be a huge chunk of money so we waited - so glad I did!! These cabinets are perfect in my old farmhouse!!! When it's all installed I'll take a few pics and let you see, although I do have at least one other piece still coming. Since we saved money on the cabinets my hubby said I could order Kit A here - isn't that cool?! It will be so nice to have a place to store papers, etc., without it being exposed to little hands! *wink*!! :)

So leave me a comment to be entered for the Jules Jewels, tell me what your favorite storage piece is or your best organizational idea! I will draw 2 random names on Wednesday, February 11. Have a fabulous weekend!

Prettie ATC Wednesday & Jules Jewels!!

Happy New Year's Eve! Today's Prettie Challenge was from Jackie Pedro, it was to create an ATC and then add it to a card. I love making ATCs, although I do not do it very often! Something about making such a cute little "work of art" makes me happy. But I will confess I had a hard time today - I think my stamping mojo is on Winter Break! :) I've read similar confessions around blogworld lately so maybe we should just all go somewhere warm together until it returns - lol!!

Truthfully I think my problem was that I wanted to use this cute Cosmo Cricket paper and I always have a hard time with muted, earthy colors. Oh well! I do love the pretty cross-stitch inspired paper and thought it almost resembled some wallpaper behind the "portrait" of Sophia which was made with Cuddle Me from Paper Pretties, of course. I stamped her on watercolor paper and colored with ink pads and an Aquapainter.

Today is my turn to issue the challenge . . . and I'm going to encourage you all to play along by offering some Jules Jewels (i.e. blog candy) for playing!! The challenge: search the Paper Pretties Gallery, find a card/project that inspires you and case it! Easy right?! (Please link the card that inspired you when you post.) There are soooooo many beautiful things in the Gallery - tons of inspiration! And remember if you are a Stamp of the Month Club member there is a special Gallery of cards by the Prettie Girls just for you!! No one else can view these creations - how cool is that?!!

What's the prize?
Your very own Cuddle Me Sophia stamp, the one I used for my card today! Add a link to your card in a comment on this post and I will draw a random winner 2 weeks from today (1/14/09) when we post our inspired cards!

Thanks for visiting! Be sure to visit the other Prettie Girls to see their ATC cards!

Julie, this is so BEAUTIFUL! I can't believe how beautiful it is! From the paper to the accesories it is perfect. That quilted letter looks so great and pulled together. I love the scalloped stitching you did on it! Those shapes look like they would be so fun to use and after seeing this I'm dying to give them a try!:-) So I'm going to enter the contest and I'd have to say although I love all the fall shapes, I think the pumpkin is my favorite!:-)

Joni you are the winner!! Send me an email and let me know which shape you want (are you going to stick with the pumpkin?)! Congrats and thanks again everyone!! I'm planning on my Jules Jewels real soon so stay tuned! :)

We Have a Winner!

Ok, I used my husband as the random number generator (inspired by Carolyn King's Random.Cara - LOVE that!) - lol! He was half asleep but I asked him to pick a number and he chose . . . 22 !!

So, no kidding but the winner is Janelle!

I love these! I just started making necklaces so I really love the use for the beads. I think you could make some nice looking key chains or charms to put on purses maybe. Janelle

Congrats Janelle - your new Love & Luck stamp set will be sent directly from Maria - thanks again Maria!!! And I will be sending you a little packet of supplies for you to try making your own shrink art! Have fun!!

Thanks for all the great ideas! I plan on trying several!

More Charms & Jules Jewels

Here are a few more pictures of the stemware charms I made (be sure to check out the tutorial in the post below). Once I got going I couldn't stop! They were so easy and fun to string up different combinations of beads!

I also tried using the words that come in the Love & Luck set. I used my scalloped circle punch for SU! to punch it out and I think it made a very nice sized charm!

I tried using the white PolyShrink to see how that would look too - it's a totally different look.

Finally, I tried a couple with a St. Patrick's day theme. The four leaf "clover" in this set is so pretty and I found that it too fits perfectly in the SU! scalloped circle punch. I think these look so neat on the white - it's a nice stark contrast and the green is so bright!

I've got a couple more projects to post this week using PolyShrink - so fun stuff so be sure to check back! Ok so who wants to give this a try?!! I've got some Jules Jewels to give away. Maria will be sending one lucky person a Love & Luck set of their own and I will send them some supplies, some PolyShrink, a bit of wire and a few beads so that you can try it yourself!

To enter, leave a comment on this post - give me your ideas for using PolyShrink and Love & Luck. What would you make? I'll draw the winner on Thursday before I leave for CHA! (Who else is going?? I'd love to meet you all - let me know if you'll be there!)

Who Wants Stamps?

Good morning!! As I said in my last post, today is my 1 year Blogaversary! It's amazing to me that it's been a whole year already! I've made some wonderful friends through this blog, become part of 2 wonderful design teams and had a lot of fun!! To celebrate, I'm giving some Jules Jewels - yea for you!! Through the generosity of Maria and Christie I have 2 new stamp sets to give away, so I will have 2 prizes.

The first I will be drawing for is from Paper Pretties' new line of clear stamps, called Cuddle Me. I can't seem to get enough of sweet Sophia and her teddy bear! When I was growing up my teddy bear was a panda - it's quite sad looking now but I loved that bear so much! I thought Sophia needed to have a panda today. I used my new Basic Grey Two Scoops pad - the colors and patterns in this pad are so pretty (I got mine from Verve Visual).

Cardstock: Soft Sky, Blue Bayou, Shimmery White, Basic Grey Two Scoops, Stamps: Cuddle Me, Ink: India Ink Black, Accessories: Watercolor Wonder Crayons, Aquapainter, Soft Sky Stitched Ribbon, Bella Baubles (Tropical Algae)

The second set I will be giving away is from Kitchen Sink Stamps, Forever & Always. This is one of the 3 new Valentine's sets and it's full of great images and words that you can use for anniversaries and anything related to love! Plus this set coordinates with the KSS set, Thanks With Style so the images can be used together quite nicely for even more choices! I also used a heart from Love & Luck.
Cardstock: Shimmery White, Purely Pomegranate, dp (it was given to me so I'm not sure who makes it), Stamps: Forever & Always, Love & Luck, Inks: Purely Pomegranate, Pixie Pink Dewdrop, Regal Rose, Accessories: Purely Pomegranate Stitched Ribbon, Shimmer Brad (Making Memories), Dimensionals, White Organdy Ribbon (retired SU!)
So please leave me a comment in order to be in the drawing - let's see . . . tell me what occasion is your favorite to make cards for! Do you like making all occasion cards, birthday cards, cute card, etc. I will draw 2 names on Wednesday morning, so tell your friends and keep those comments coming! Have a great weekend!!
