Love you . . .

Happy Saturday! I don't know about you but I've got a busy day ahead! So have you seen all the sneak peeks the Prettie Girls have been posting? Amazing stuff!! I couldn't wait to use the newest Cooper set - this is Love You This Much, adorable or what??!! Anyone who has boys must have this set! The sentiments are just the best - ones that I'm sure we all say to our children!

There is something about boys in orange that I just love! My boys have a little Old Navy orange ballcap that I think is just so cute! Aaron also has a long-sleeved version of this shirt (without the number) in orange and it's one of my favorites!

A few final reminders . . . TODAY is the last day to enter the Cutie Pie contest - submit your Paper Pretties card by uploading it into the Cutie Pie Gallery (it's a locked gallery so you won't be able to see it, but when you upload your card you can choose it from the drop-down menu). TODAY is also the last day to sign up for the Stamp of the Month Club if you must have Sophia Ballerina before she's publically released in April. Check out all the
for a taste of what you're in for - holy cow!! :)

Finally, the party starts tomorrow night in the Paper Pretties Forum at 7 pm EST - be there for a FUN night!! :)

Cardstock: Pumpkin Pie (SU!), White (Papertrey Ink), Blue (Bazzill), Patterned Paper: Scenic Route, Stamps: Love You This Much (Paper Pretties), Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento), Accessories: Brad (Making Memories), Copic Markers, Nestabilities, Ribbon (SU!),

Bellarific Friday

Did you know that it's a Bellarific Friday?! Em has some new Bella Babes and she's started posting a challenge on Mondays for all who want to play along! I had a wee bit of time yesterday so here's what I came up with using the inspiration piece.

Aren't those owls just adorable! I love them!! The stamp is called Cuddly Owlies and I had some fun piecing the big guy with some felt. Be sure to check out Em's blog on Monday for the new challenge and play along - you could in a prize! :)

I'll be back tomorrow with my Prettie Peek! :)

Ready for Some Peeks??

It's Prettie Peek time!! Sunday night is the Paper Pretties release and Stampin In Your Jammies! Smile

Did any of you get to participate in VSN (Virtual Stamping Night) on SCS this weekend?? I had a busy weekend but I did have a chance to play a couple challenges and my daughter, Emma even stamped out 2 of the children's challenges!

Christi Snow's challenge For the Love of Chocolate was a great one! Christi had 3 different color challenges based on what type of chocolate you love the most. Dark chocolate is my fav - yum! So the colors were Apricot Appeal, Chocolate Chip and Cameo Coral.

Since you only have 45 minutes to make your card (per the VSN "rules") I elected to go simple. I have this sweet little Heart Flower stamp from Rubber Soul that was calling out to me! I stamped it using Dark Chocolate ink, colored it with Copics and then stamped it again on Cameo Coral, cut out the center heart and popped it on a dimensional. The sentiment is also from Rubber Soul - You Make Me Smile. A button (or several) seem to be my favorite embellishment these days - they just add the perfect touch!

As I was making this card, Emma wanted to stamp too. She pulled out this cute set, Animal Love and made an adorable card. Wanna see?? Go check out the Rubber Soul News page! :)

Have a great day!

Cardstock: Apricot Appeal, Chocolate Chip, Cameo Coral, Very Vanilla (SU!), Stamps: Heart Flower, You Make Me Smile (Rubber Soul), Ink: Dark Chocolate (Papertrey Ink), Apricot Appeal (SU!), Accessories: Dimensionals, Copic Markers, Ribbon (Papertrey Ink), Linen Thread, Button (Foo Fa La),

Prettie Lonely Wednesday

LOL! I couldn't help myself . . . Today the Prettie Girls are posting Jodi's challenge of 1 - 1 layer, 1 stamp, 1 sentiment, 1 embellishment. . . 1 is a lonely number. :)

Seriously, though I had fun with this challenge - it was the fastest card I've made in a long time although not very original. The stamp is Bunny Slippers from Paper Pretties (and unfortunately I forgot that this image is backordered at the moment - sorry!) I did add a bit of Fun Flocking to her bathrobe for some interest (hope that's not considered an embellie!). Be sure to check out what the other Prettie Girls made!

Don't forget also to start check the blogs on Friday for sneak peeks of the upcoming release! Have you submitted your entry for the Cutie Pie contest yet??

Cardstock: Pure Luxury White (Gina K Designs), Stamps: Bunny Slippers (Paper Pretties), Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento), Accessories: Copic markers, Fun Flock (Stampendous), Ribbon (Papertrey Ink)

Skater Silhouette

A little something different today. As I sat down to stamp yesterday I wanted to try something "out of the box" and since we got a HUGE snowstorm here Sunday night I felt like using the cute Gliding By image from Paper Pretties.

So I stamped the image and then I colored her completely black - YIKES! I thought I'd try a silhouette type look! What do you think? I did a bit of distressing around the edge of the oval as well as on the edge of the dp (which is super fun October Afternoon and for your music lovers that "need" to know - the song is Winter Wonderland). :)

Since the card was taking on a vintage-y feel I did a quick search for crocheted snowflakes and found this page with several great patterns. I made a couple, but this one is #6 and I liked it the best. I added a button to the center from my vintage button stash and an October Afternoon rub-on on the bottom.

Cardstock: Black, Vanilla (SU!), Patterned Paper: October Afternoon, Stamps: Gliding By (Paper Pretties), Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento), Frayed Burlap (Ranger), Accessories: Button, Vanilla Grosgrain (Papertrey Ink), Gingham (My Favorite Things), Nestabilities, Copic marker, Dimensionals, Black Brads, sponge

Have I mentioned that Paper Pretties is having a release on March 1?? Lots of fun coming your way at monthly Stampin In Your Jammies party!! The party starts at 7 pm EST. We will be issuing a challenge every hour so be sure to come and play along!! Besides the challenges, chatter, and all around fun, we will also be releasing Bunny Hop Sophia to the public as well as a new stamp set!! Sneak peeks start on Friday, February 27th so check out the Prettie Girls' blogs then!!

That also means it is time for another CUTIE PIE CONTEST!!! All you have to do to enter is upload a card you have made using Paper Pretties stamps to the Cutie Pie Contest gallery over at the Paper Pretties website. Entries must be in no later than 9 pm EST on February 28th. Besides getting to call yourself a Cutie Pie, you will also receive all the new stamps that are released on the 1st!!

KSS Monday - Lynn's Crew Challenge

Good morning!! I hope you all had a great weekend!! Our Kitchen Sink Stamps Crew Challenge today comes from the delightful and very talented Lynn! Here are the details:

Refrigerator Magnet - Use your computer to generate a favorite quote, witty saying, or scripture and then use your Kitchen Sink Stamps to turn it into a wonderful bit of refrigerator art! Just to keep it interesting, the size should be no larger than 4" x 4" but can be any shape you choose as long as it fits into a 4 x 4 space on your refrigerator.

Fun, huh?!! As I thought about what quote to use, this verse kept popping into my head. Sometimes we get caught up in praying for "God's will" when we really just mean "can you do it my way please?" I know this has happened to me many times! We need to remember that God knows the end - the why, the when, the how - everything! And, most importantly, His way is best!

First I formatted the verse on my computer and printed it out (the font is a dark brown) on Papertrey Ink Linen Vellum (which is so nice for this project since it is not quite as transparent as regular vellum). Then I used a Nestabilities die to cut it out. I sponged a bit around the edges with Vintage Violet.

For the background, I used a 4 x 4 coaster for durabiliity and a piece of Vanilla cardstock cut to size to stamp on. I used my "go to" floral set - 3 Step Hydrangeas to stamp a background. No new color combos, I just used 3 of my favorites from here and here. Once I had everything layered, as a last step I stamped a little butterfly that is in the 3 Step Hydrangeas set, cut it out and popped it up on the bottom. A few pieces of magnetic adhesive strips on the back finished up the project. I love how it came out!

Why don't you take the challenge and play along! See what you can come up with and add your link to the KSS Group on Paper Craft Planet! If you'd like to use my verse, leave me a comment (with your email!) and I will email you the pdf!

Now go check out what the other KSS Crew members have made - I can't wait to see! :)

Maria, Lynn, Nicole, Tammy, Lori, Angela, Dee (won't be up until Tuesday)

Cardstock: Vanilla, Linen Vellum (Papertrey Ink), Stamps: 3 Step Hydrangeas (Kitchen Sink Stamps), Ink: River Rock, Certainly Celery, Old Olive, Vintage Violet, Blush Blossom, Mellow Moss, Always Artichoke (SU!), Sweet Blush (Papertrey Ink), Accessories: Chipboard Coaster, Dimensional, Nestabilities

Ok since Melody did not respond, I drew a new number using Random.org and the new winner of the KSS package is . . .

susanne sorensen said...

my best organizational idea/tip is how i store my cardstock scraps. i have a desk drawer with hanging folders for each SU cardstock color. in each hanging folder is a quart size baggie which holds my scraps. i am in that drawer every day that i stamp. very close at hand and easy to use.

Susanne - please email with your mailing address and your prize will be sent right out! :)

For the Birthday Girl!

My niece's birthday was last week but we're celebrating on Friday so I whipped up a quick little birthday card for her last night using some fun new Rubber Soul stamps I received. This set is called It's Your Day! You all know how hot any type of bird (yes, owls too!) stamps are and trees - how cute are these guys - I just love that fun bird!! :)

This is a bit of a funky card but when I saw the doodle circle stamps I thought they would be so cute stamped out on some dp - this is Meadow's Edge also from Rubber Soul. If you've never used their paper you really should go check it out - it's a nice sturdy weight, double sided, comes in 8x8 packs 50 sheets to a pack - all for $2.95!!! Beat that!! So after I stamped the tree and a few swirls, I stamped more swirls on the dp and cut them out. I also stamped the bird on some dp and cut it out - all were then added with dimensionals. The finished card is approximately 6.5 x 3.5. I love the fun font the Happy Birthday is in -very neat!

Have a great day everyone - we're enjoying our new snow today! LOL!

Cardstock: Summer Sunrise (Papertrey Ink), White (SU!), Patterned Paper: Meadow's Edge (Rubber Soul), Stamps: It's Your Day (Rubber Soul), Ink: Rich Cocoa (Memento), Chartreuse (Palette), Bamboo Leaves, Sky Blue (Memento) Accessories: brad (Queen & Co.), Dimensionals, corner rounder punch, button (Foo Fa La)

Prettie Colors Wednesday

Happy Prettie Wednesday!! Our challenge today comes from lovely Jessie and it's a color challenge - Rose Red, Cameo Coral and Kiwi Kiss. I'm sure we'll be seeing some SU! Raspberry Tart paper today but I don't have any. So I searched through my stash and found some old Ginger Blogssom and Bali Breeze paper with these colors. I especially like the Ginger Blossom paper (the Coral colored one) - I think the images match the image well!

I just love, love this Flirty Fortunes set from Paper Pretties!!! It's so different from anything I've seen and truthfully it is so much fun to use! This card is another very simple one and I really like the simple clean lines of the card.

Be sure to visit the other Prettie Girls' blogs to see their gorgeous creations!

One of Those Days

It's been so long since I participated in the Prettie Weekly Challenges but Danielle does such an awesome job of keeping the challenges fresh and fun and did you know that there are prizes??! Check out the Challenge Forum every Thursday to find the new challenge. This week it's a color challenge - White, Kraft and ??? - you choose the 3rd color! Fun - I love kraft paper lately.

For my card today I used One of Those Days from Paper Pretties, of course. Ever since I made this card with the clear embossed background I've wanted to do that again so I also took out Sassy Circles and stamped the row of smaller circles using Versamark over my kraft cardstock. I then embossed them with Clear EP - love this look (even though it's difficult to photograph)!!

The rest of the card is pretty self-explanatory. The egg is pieced with kraft paper and the chick is colored with Copic markers. I used a pretty button and tied it over the ribbon (as I've seen on Nichole Heady's blog many times).

I hope you give the Challenges a try - you'll be glad you did!! :)

"Vintage" Pansies

Hello my friends! I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day and spent it with all you hold most dear! It's Monday and that means Kitchen Sink Stamps Day! Remember this card from last week (incidentally, take a look at this neat little honor!)? I told you then you'd be seeing more crocheted embellies and I have another one today!

The little flowers are so easy - you only need to know about 2-4 stitches and they take about 5 minutes! I'm thinking I need to make up a bunch and sell 'em - lol!! :) The book print flower behind the crocheted one is another photocopy from an old flower book I have - it has some beautiful old color "plates" of wild flowers - very neat book! Photocopying them is a nice way to use them while preserving the book!

I wanted my card to have a soft, feminine, vintage feeling today so I pulled out 3 Step Pansies and some Webster's Pages paper. These flowers just say vintage to me and I love them in plums! The sentiment is a mix of Words of Love and Vintage Words. A couple of the leaves and the big flower are popped up on dimensionals.

Oh and I almost forgot, the layout for this card is this month's Dirty Dozen sketch - the new DD gallery is up and there's lots of beautiful projects there! :)

Be sure to visit the rest of the KSS Crew - I just know you are going to be wowed!! And how about NEW KSS?? Well, it's coming March 3rd and you will LOVE them! hee hee! Have a great Monday everyone!

A Butterfly For a Friend

Quick post today . . I'm off to meet my friend Kim for some Stamp New England '09 business!! I'm getting so excited for this event - it's going to be so much fun!!

I've had this cute little butterfly from Say It With Letters for a while and finally finished it up a several weeks ago as a gift for my friend Christie. I had a hard time getting started - I think it's harder when you're making it as a gift rather than just for yourself! I felt all this pressure! It had to be perfect. . . it's not . . . but, I do like how it came out and Christie liked it so that's the important part! :)

The shape is so cute! I started out with paint but then ended up using some pretty Daisy Buckets paper. I stamped and cut out Flutterby Sophia and added her to the side of the sentiment which was printed on my computer. I cut the little butterfly above Sophia's hand out of the dp and also a few flowers to add as accents. The cool pink rhinestone flourishes are from Prima.

Have you checked out the Say It WIth Letters store lately? There is a fun Love & Valentine section and a HUGE kits sale!!

Everything Beautiful

Just a quick little card I forgot to share here. I made this for one of Cath's Moxie Fab challenges - All Dressed Up . . . . You were to be inspired by one of the fun dresses Cath found and make a card using that inspiration. I was mostly inspired by the color schemes and made this little black & white number using some Unity Stamps. The background paper was made using a little viney stamp from one of the Kit of the Months and the sentiment is from the Unity set Something Within. I stamped the vines and embossed them with black ep to make them stand out more. I also embossed the scripture verse. A little pop of hot pink and some crystals finished up this card!

Thanks for visiting!! If you are attending Stamp New England '09 be sure to check out the blog to meet one of our fabulous instructors!! :)

Craft storage! That's a challenge. Every year I need to re-organise my craft things. What I like most is my custom made furniture that comes with shelves, cupboards on top and bottom rows and drawers in the centre row.

My favorite storage piece is a wood wall mounted open shelf type unit that my husband built me. It holds my inks, stamp cleaner, etc. and is mounted right above my desk on the wall because I like having everything within reach while I work.

Prettie Lovey Wednesday

It was Jillian's turn to challenge the Prettie Girls and she wanted us to make something we love - just make a card that makes me happy!! Truthfully almost all of our cards we love right, or else we wouldn't be blogging about them - lol! :) But this was a chance to really make something totally me!!

I've seen seeing lots of buzz about these adorable little embellishments made with vintage book pages, buttons and sometimes flowers or felt. I've been meaning to give them a try but my friend Char finally pushed me over the edge with some beautiful card's (here's one of many!) she's been making!!

I picked up some pretty cotton thread last week at a quilt shop (OMGoodness, it has been ages since I was in a quilt shop and I could've stayed there for days!!! You'll be seeing a few more things from my trip soon!). Anyway, I did a search and found this super quick and easy pattern for crocheted hearts so I whipped up a couple (along with a few cute little flowers) and got to work. Then I needed something behind the heart . . . I remembered some old sheet music I have that belonged to my grandfather - perfect (here's a picture of it)!! But was I going to cut that?? NO WAY! So I scanned it into my computer and printed at 1/2 size - worked like a charm! I cut it out using a Cuttlebug flower die and then added a bit of ink before sewing on the crocheted heart and adding a button to the middle

I used Sealed With a Kiss from Paper Pretties- which, can you tell, I'm loving lately?!! :) I think it is so great how this image can look vintage-y or modern and is just so great for lots of occasions!! And did I tell you since it was re-released in rubber there is a fantastic Sealed With A Kiss Add On Sentiment set - makes it even more useful!! Since it was only a small portion of Luke & Lexi showing it was pretty fast coloring. I think this will be my hubby's Valentine's Day card - sssshhh!!

My Jules Jewels in ending today so you have a few more hours to post a comment here if you haven't already. I'll be back later with the winner! The children and DH are still trying to get well - poor baby Aaron has an ear infection so we got him some meds yesterday and hopefully he's on the mend! I'm just pooped, wanting everyone to be well!

Don't forget to check out the Prettie Girls' blogs for their challenge cards - I know they will be very prettie! :)

Have a great day everyone - thanks so much for visiting!!!

Cardstock: Vintage Vanilla, Sweet Blush (Papertrey Ink), Burgandy (SU!), Stamps: Sealed With a Kiss (Paper Pretties), Ink: Dark Chocolate (Papertrey Ink), Accessories: Ribbon (Kitchen Sink Stamps store), button (Foo Fa La), Cuttlebug Swiss Dot folder, Nestabilities, Copic markers, Diamond glaze, Corner Rounder

SWAK

Here's another card I made for the big Paper Pretties Anniversary Celebration a couple of weeks ago. Sealed With a Kiss was re-released in fabulous rubber - yea!! Since it was being remade anyway, the SWAK stamped was changed slightly to add the "Sealed With a Kiss" under the letters. Very cool, isn't it?! :)

I made this card for the release party and am so excited to show you it today! It's a new fav of mine! :) I used a very simple color blocked layout and used a couple elements of the set (SWAK, the envelope and the heart background) along with fun embellies (button, brad, heart Nesties). The heart background stamp is embossed with white ep.

The colors are all Papertrey - Dark Chocolate, Raspberry Fizz, Summer Sunrise, Aqua Mist and Kraft. The hearts and envelope are cut out of PTI's Shimmer paper. The brown square is actually 2 - the smaller one has a white embossed edge around it and is popped up on a dimensional. I used a cute Queen & Co. button with a brad added and "threaded" through the holes.

Have you checked out The Paper Clip lately? So much great information all in one place! Check here for the current Prettie Challenge from Danielle - you could win a prize just for playing along!! :)

Have a Prettie day!

Cardstock: Kraft, Dark Chocolate, Summer Sunrise, Raspberry Fizz, Aqua Mist, Shimmer white (Papertrey Ink), Stamps: Sealed With a Kiss (Paper Pretties), Ink: Fresh Snow (Papertrey Ink), Tuxedo Black (Memento), Accessories: Nestabilities, Buttons (Queen & Co.), heart brads, Dimensionals, Copic marker, White EP

Kitchen Sink Flowers of Love

Don't forget to comment here for a chance for some Jules Jewels!

I'm so happy for it to be Monday . . . a new week!! Last week was tough, the weekend was tough, I'm hoping for a better week! My children all were sick, one by one since last Sunday afternoon, hubby was sick this weekend - so far, I've escaped (fingers crossed- lol!). I think it's just a bad cold but they all had a day or 2 of a fever and general listlessness.

So I'm so happy to have Kitchen Sink Monday roll around. We have a Guest Challenger today - would you like to join us? If you enter the What's Cook'n Contest you could have the chance to issue the Crew Challenge some week. All the details are here. Today our Guest Challenger is Connie, the winner of the last What's Cook'n Contest. Her challenge was to make a Valentine's Day card using a KSS flower stamp set BUT we couldn't use red or pink . . . I know, WHAT?!! :) It made made think - ouch!! I'll let you be the judge how I did.

I used 3 Step Hearts & Roses and "Love" from Words of Love. I took a piece of black cardstock and stamped the 2nd step rose using Fresh Snow (PTI's new white) ink. I used Platinum Planet for Step 3 and London Fog for Step 4. Finally, I took the first step stamp - the most solid image - and I stamped it over the 3 steps with Versamark and embossed it using clear ep. I did this several times until I filled a large enough area to cut out with my heart Nestabilities. I stamped the sentiment using the same Fresh Snow ink. The Spring Moss panel is stamped using the 4th step rose stamp (both sizes) and Fresh Snow and the 2nd step leaf stamps using Versamark. I used a little heart from Plaid Plus and stamped that randomly to fill in some spot.

The sketch is CPS#102 which I didn't plan on using but when I got all my pieces together and looked at the sketch I realized it worked out well. I'm thinking that Spring Moss does not photograph well. Everytime I make a card with it the pictures looks so much worse than the card!

Remember to visit the other Crew members to see their fabulous creations!! And come visit us on the Paper Craft Planet - we'll all be linking our projects there and we'd love to see your creations with the challenge today so come add your link!! Remember if you make something with 100% KSS stamps you can enter it in the Contest (the theme for Jan/Feb is "Show the Love").

Raspberry Quilt

If you've been following the Papertrey Ink 2 Year Celebration then this sketch may look familar! I finally got a chance to play along with one of the challenges, this is Nichole's Bitty Dot Sketch Challenge - the winner gets ALL the PTI ribbon!! 95 spools, now that's ribbon heaven!! :)

I flipped the sketch sideways which worked out better for my sentiment. I am loving this Raspberry Fizz paper and patterned paper! I am hoping to see more of that beautiful peony-type flower (or would it be a mum, or marigold??). I used Quilter's Sampler to make a bold, modern-ish quilt using the dp and cardstock. A pretty simple card but I love the pop of black!

Don't forget to enter for some Jules Jewels below! Have a blessed Sunday!

Cardstock: Raspberry Fizz, White (Papertrey Ink), Black (SU!)

Finally . . . Jules Jewels (aka Blog Candy!)

How about some Jules Jewels (aka Blog Candy) to take us into the weekend?? I've been hinting at this for about 2 weeks now - ever since my 2 year Blogaversary! I can't believe it's been 2 years - so much has happened, I've made sooooooo many wonderful friends and had so much fun!!

To say thank you, I have 2 different packages up for grabs (sorry I don't have photos of them today). 1) The fabulous Kitchen Sink Stamps set Swirly Hearts & Stars and a full size VersaMagic Pixie Dust ink pad and 2) the adorable Cuddle Me Sophia stamp set from Paper Pretties. I will most likely be adding a few little extra treats to each package as I clean through my stamping area this weekend!

The countertops for my space have arrived today and my brother is coming to install them this afternoon - I am SOOOOO excited!! It's been over a year now since we started this project - sometimes it pays to patient though. My brother was able to get me some really neat, rustic pine cabinets for . . . FREE!!! When we had looked at cabinets last year it was going to be a huge chunk of money so we waited - so glad I did!! These cabinets are perfect in my old farmhouse!!! When it's all installed I'll take a few pics and let you see, although I do have at least one other piece still coming. Since we saved money on the cabinets my hubby said I could order Kit A here - isn't that cool?! It will be so nice to have a place to store papers, etc., without it being exposed to little hands! *wink*!! :)

So leave me a comment to be entered for the Jules Jewels, tell me what your favorite storage piece is or your best organizational idea! I will draw 2 random names on Wednesday, February 11. Have a fabulous weekend!
