TCP Tuesday Inspiration Challenge

Thanks so much for everyone who sent prayers and thoughts for Baby O on Monday - he came through the surgery just fine and the doctor thinks that the procedure was successful!  It was a bit stressful me to see him obviously uncomfortable and disoriented after the surgery but it made me so thankful that overall our children are very healthy.  I truly feel for those parents who spend a lot of time with seriously ill children in and out of the hospital!

It felt good to get a bit of stamping done yesterday (Monday night I was zonked working on about 3-4 hours of sleep!) and I thought I'd play along with TCP Tuesday again this week.  This week's challenge is a super inspiration photo from the Hostess With the Mostest this week, Toni.  I love pink and red together so this wasn't that hard for me.  I used Birthday Bunny since the cute stack of packages reminded me of the quilt squares.  Be sure to get all the details about the challenge and how to enter on Alma's blog.

The sketch is from Sharon Harnist and is another Dare to Get Dirty challenge from Splitcoaststampers.  How about that yummy wide Striped Grosgrain Ribbon?  Another fab new thing I picked up from The Cat's Pajamas most recent release - it's so luscious!!

That's all from me today, have a wonderful day!

Cardstock: Hibiscus Burst, Pure Poppy (Papertrey Ink), White (Neenah), Patterned Paper:  We R Memory Keepers, Stamps: Birthday Bunny (The Cat's Pajamas), Ink: Memento, Accessories:  Button Die, Ribbon, Divine Twine (The Cat's Pajamas),  Nestabilities, Cpoic markers, glitter (Martha Stewart), Fun Flock (Stampendous), rhinestones (Zva Creative)

Dear Friend

ETA:  For more information about the KSS workshop in Texas, October 8 & 9, click on the blinkie!

Happy Kitchen Sink Stamps Monday!  I have a quickie for you today since I'll be at the hospital with my sweet Baby O - he's having a little surgery but we should be home by the afternoon. If you think of it, say a prayer for us!

Anyway, I continued playing along with a few of the Dare to Get Dirty challenges over on Splitcoaststampers today.  My card is for
DTGD10blondie090277 - Sketch
DTGD10joanervin - Orange You Wonderful
DTGD10kmahany - Anything but Average
DTGD10BevMom01 - TV dinners

I used 3 Step Hibiscus from Kitchen Sink Stamps to give the card a tropical feel - can you guess what TV show I was channeling?  Well, since Hibiscus are a tropical flower, it's Gilligan's Island or I suppose Hawaii Five-0! LOL!  The card is 4" x 4.5" and I just love how bright and cheery the orange is don't you?

Remember, anytime you order from Kitchen Sink Stamps you can use coupon code JULIE10KSS for 10% off your order.  Please visit the rest of the KSS Crew today and see what they've cooked up!  Thanks for visiting today friends!

Nurture

Continuing what I started yesterday, I have another card that qualifies for a few of the Dare to Get Dirty challenges over on Splitcoaststampers this week. I was catching up on my Google Reader when I saw the new releases from Flourishes and got inspired to pull out my pretty Flourishes stamps!  I used From My Garden for this card which qualifies for:

DTGD10tayloredexpressions - sketch
DTGD10AmberDawn01 - texture (the twill tape)

DTGD10debdeb - stitching

Ok, so most of them are obvious right?  You can see the sketch, the paper piecing, the stitching, the texture with the twill tape and the gardening theme.  The patterned paper - well I hope I'm ok on that one.  I used 2 patterns from October Afternoon, but the 3rd piece is a copy of an old wild flower text book that I have.  It came from my great-uncle's library and I can't bear to cut it up so I just scanned one of the pages and printed it out.  That counts as patterned paper right?

We were working out in our yard yesterday and hopefully will be today also - trying to "take back" some of our yard that is being swallowed up by the woods and weed growth - ha ha!  We built a fire pit last night and the children had so much fun toasting hot dogs and marshmallows over the fire! The joys of summer . . . I hope you are enjoying them too! :)

Cardstock: Simply Chartreuse (Papertrey Ink), Baja Breeze (SU!), Ivory (Flourishes), Patterned Paper: Fly a Kite (October Afternoon), Stamps: From My Garden (Flourishes), Ink: Memento, Accessories:  Copic markers, Vintage Button, Twine, Ric Rac die (Papertrey Ink), Nestabilities, foam adhesive, Twill Tape (SU!)

Love You Birthday Girl!

Have you been playing around with the Dare to Get Dirty challenges over on Splitcoaststampers this week?  It's always a fun time to play along with the very best stampers and perhaps try a few new things.  Plus, challenges are always fun! They stretch you creatively which is always a good thing!  I took a look around last night and although I am usually very bad at being able to combine challenges, I think this card qualifies for 5 challenges:

DTGD10crafty caro - All That Glitters
DTGD10cindy_haffner - Dies and Punches
DTGD10JeanneS - Colour
DTGD10peanutbee - Girls, Girls, Girls & Gingham
DTGD10AmberDawn02 - Let's get SKETCHY!

I didn't start out to do all those challenges but somehow, in the end I had those 5 marked done!

The stamps is Emma Blowing Kisses from My Favorite Things and I just love this image!  I used a mixture of dp - one more and I could have qualified for another challenge! :)  I made this card for my niece's birthday so on the inside of the card it says "Birthday Girl."

Thanks for visiting today!  Have a great weekend!

Cardstock: Kraft, Pure Poppy (Papertrey Ink), White (Perfect Panel - My Favorite Things), Patterned Paper:  Jillibean Soup, Imaginisce,  Stamps: Emma Blowing Kisses (My Favorite Things), Ink: Memento, Accessories:  Nestabilities, Copic markers, Open Scallop Die (My Favorite Things), Ribbon (Papertrey Ink), rhinestones (Kaiser), sewing machine

Salt Challenge: A trouble free life?

Good morning! Pauline has given us the Salt challenge today based on Luke 8:22-25 which is the account of Jesus calming the storm.  Please read Pauline's comments on the Salt blog and take a minute to see the projects by some of the design team members.

I chose to focus on the verse at the end of the selection, vs. 25:  "Who can this be? For he commands even the winds and the water, and they obey Him?"  Matthew Henry states: "Those that had feared the storm, now that the danger was over with good reason feared him that had stilled it, and said one to another, What manner of man is this! They might as well have said, Who is a God like unto thee? For it is God’s prerogative to still the noise of the seas, the noise of their waves, Ps. 65:7."   They had witnessed the power of God over nature and were rightly amazed!

My ATC today uses Men of Life from Papertrey Ink.  I had to shorten the boat a bit to make it fit, but since it is not a line image that was easy to do.  I also used the KISS technique to make the boat have a woodgrain finish.  Thanks for visiting today - have a great day my friends!

Cardstock: Dark Chocolate, Ocean Tides (Papertrey Ink), White (Gina K Designs), Patterned Paper: Papertrey Ink, Stamps: Men of Life (Papertrey Ink), Ink: Rich Cocoa, Dessert Sand (Memento), Ocean Tides (Papertrey Ink), Accessories:  foam adhesive, brad

Hello

Wednesday already?  The summer is flying by and we've been having some great weather - I love it!!  But you may be so busy that you haven't noticed that there a ton of new digi stamps over at Tiffany's Doodles!  I almost missed them myself! LOL!  Take a look at all the new floral images that include a framed image also that matches up perfectly with a Nestie shape!! We all love our Nesties don't we?!

My card today uses one of those new images, Dahlia With Oval and I used the whole image (not the one in the oval Nesties).  I just love Dahlias - I love the shape and symmetry of them!  I colored mine with Copic markers and used FTL99.

Don't forget to join us this month for the Bird and Window Challenge at Tiffany's Doodles! You could win free digis just for playing along!  Thanks for visiting today!

Cardstock: Raspberry Fizz (Papertrey Ink), White (Neenah), Vellum (SU!)  Patterned Paper:  Papertrey Ink, Stamps: digi - Dahlia With Oval (Tiffany's Doodles), sentiment from Papertrey Ink, Ink: Black (memento), Accessories:  Corner rounder punch, rhinestone (Kaiser), Copic markers

Get Well

Happy Kitchen Sink Stamps Monday! It's an exciting one too because Kitchen Sink Stamps is sponsoring the CPS (Card Positioning Systems) Sketch this week, #176!  You can check out the sketch and the first set of designer cards HERE.  You have a chance to play along with the sketch for a chance at a KSS prize by leaving a link to your card HERE.

I also want to mention that KSS will be hosting their second Multi-Step Stamping Workshop - this time in TX!  There will be more information coming but we'd love you to save the date now!

Multi Step Stamping in Texas with Kitchen Sink Stamps

Where: La Quinta Inn & Suites - Pearland (Houston area), Texas
Dates: Oct. 8 & 9, 2010

More info to come, so save the date - space is limited

Ok, here's my card using the CPS sketch.  I used Multi-Step Sunflowers from Kitchen Sink Stamps. Here are my ink recipes for the wonderful watering can and sunflowers:

Watering Can:  Step 4 - Vintage Violet (SU!), Step 3 - Potter's Clay (Memento), Step 2 - Rhubarb Stalk (Memento), Step 1 - Rhubarb Stalk and then repeated Step 1 using Potter's Clay (stamped off).

Sunflowers:  Step 3 - Summer Sunrise (Papertrey Ink), Step 2- Summer Sun (SU!), Step 1 - Dandelion (Memento), Step 4 - Potter's Clay (Memento), Step 5 - Dark Chocolate (Papertrey Ink)

As you can see I did some sponging (which I don't do very often!) to add depth and a bit of character to the card.  I just love that very cool watering can!  The sentiment is from Never A Loss 4 Words also from KSS.

I hope you get a chance to play along, but first take a look at what the other Crew members have done today!! Thanks for visiting!

Cup of Tea

Well my friends we've made it to another Friday!  It's especially a good one for me since I will be picking Emma up from camp tomorrow morning.  It's seemed like a long week in a way without her here - she's my talker you see, she's always talking! So it's been much quieter for sure - lol!  We've all missed her lots but I know she's had a wonderful time and I cannot wait to hear all her stories of camp!

I have one more The Cat's Pajamas sneak peek to share with you this week and then you'll have to meet me at the Pajama Party on Monday (7/19) night (8 pm EST in the TCP SCS forum) to see ALL the swanky new sets and products.  I hear there's lots of fun planned for the night - may even be a few prizes! :)

My peek today is a Toni's Tea Set and you can read the back story on Alma's blog.  I made an ATC with this color combo several weeks ago and have been itching to do a card using it.  I even made it the current challenge on our Children's Challenge Corner blog!  The sketch is Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge #82 and my card is 6" x 4".

I had fun playing with the colors for this and then . . . wait for it . . . playing with Divine Twine!! This time I used the 3 colors and braided them together! Fun, right?! :)  The lemon was pieced over the stamped image so that half of it appears to be in the tea and I added a bit of glitter to the steam.  The sentiment is also embossed and I drew a white frame around the entire card to pull it all together. Oh and I had to use a bit more of the wonderful felt TCP will be releasing - it's the scalloped circle Nestie die cut behind my main image.

Have a wonderful day my friends!

Cardstock:  Kraft (Papertrey Ink), White (Neenah), Stamps:  Toni's Tea Set, Ink: Chartreuse (Palette), Tangelo, Black, Dandelion (Memento), Fresh Snow (Papertrey Ink),  Accessories:  Divine Twine, felt (The Cat's Pajamas, Copic markers, Dazzling Diamond glitter, White grosgrain ribbon (SU!), White Gel pen, rhintestones, white embossing power

Good Friends

Do you get the feeling I've just been sitting here with The Cat's Pajamas stamps having a ball?? Well that would be true!! I know you all want to see all the goodies in store for you and I'm here to help! :)  The Sneaky Peek of the day yesterday was Good Friends - the three adorable penguins all cozied up watching a flick, cute!!

I decided to make mine a girly card - you see they are watching a great chick flick like the one my SIL just loaned us, Valentine's Day - is it good?  We haven't watched it yet, but I am looking forward to a fun movie night!  So back to the penguins, I stamped them first on the white, then on the patterned paper and then again on a scrap of white.  Why?  Well, since my friend Joanne might be checking in on me during these TCP peeks, I had to get the depth thing right (and I have to say, she's right on!).  If you just pieced the couch around the penguins then it would look like they were all sunken down in the couch and we don't want that! First, you cut your couch out of the patterned paper, then you color the penguins on the scrap paper, cut it out and add it on top of the pieced couch.  Make sense?  It takes a tiny bit more time, but it's all in the details my friends!! :)

I just love the stripey couch, don't you?  And check out the tv. . . Since it looks like one of those cute, retro televisions I pieced part of it using some woodgrain paper from October Afternoon - hee hee!!  I've been having fun mixing different Nestie shapes lately, it's fun to try new things!  And speaking of new . . . did you spy something else on there new? something that The Cat Pack has been showing you too??  {LOVE!}

That's it from me today.  We're off to the lake - maybe we'll spy Emma at camp across the lake (yes, her camp is just about 10-15 minutes from home and on the lake we frequent!).  Thanks so much for visiting!!

Cardstock:  White (cardbase: Gina K Designs, colored panel: My Favorite Things Perfect Panel), Black (Papertrey Ink), Patterned Paper:  Echo Park and October Afternoon, Stamps: Good Friends (The Cat's Pajamas), Ink: Memento, Accessories:  Nestabilities, Copic markers, foam adhesive, sewing machine, Divine Twine (The Cat's Pajamas), Corner Rounder punch

Ahoy!

Happy Wednesday!  I've got another TCP Sneaky Peek for you today.  I had so much fun this card over the weekend - I am just in love with this adorable whale!! He's from a brand new artist at TCP, Alissa Harvey from Mew Paper Arts Studio!  Don't miss out on the adorable whale cards from Amy, Jen, and Sony from yesterday (and a few more today!)- it's so neat to see how each card uses the same stamp but have very different feels!

The set I used today is Whale of a Time and just like the rest of the goodies, it will be released during the party on July 19 in the TCP forum at SCS.

I started by stamping the whale twice, coloring and cutting one out so that I could mount him sitting in the waves (aren't those fun! *wink*!)  I added some polka dots to him using a colorless blender and then repeated the dot theme by using a polka dot embossing folder from Quickutz.  This week's TCP Tuesday challenge is DIVINE TWINE!  I had no idea when I was creating my card but then, I'm addicted so it's no surprise I had used some (I used black today)! :)

Be sure to check out all the details for the release and TCP Tuesday on Alma's blog.  Have a great day!

Cardstock:  Summer Sun (SU!), Smokey Shadow (Papertrey Ink), White (Neenah), Patterned Paper:  Bo Bunny, Stamps: Whale of a Time (The Cat's Pajamas), Ink: Memento, Accessories: Copic markers, embossing folder (Quickutz), Button and Divine Twine (The Cat's Pajamas), foam adhesive, Cloud die (My Favorite Things), Corner rounder

Get Well Soon

Yippy! I just got the go ahead to share some fun new stuff coming to you next week from The Cat's Pajamas!!  I was so super excited when Alma asked me if I'd like to play along with this latest release and when I got my package of goodies I literally squeallllled!! You are going to love love everything in the release this month!  Be sure to check out Alma's blog to find out which members of her Cat Pack (aka the design team) are giving you sneak peaks this week. The release will be July 19 at a Pajama Party in the new TCP forum at Splitcoaststampers!

Ok, yesterday's peek was the adorable PJ bear in A Cuppa.  I have just fallen in love with this cute bear - Alma's style is so retro and just fun!  I used Karen Giron's Sweet Sunday Sketch and some fun Cosmo Cricket dp to make my Get Well Soon card.

I pieced the sweet apron with the fun cherry paper and colored in the contrasting areas.   The fun thing about this set is that PJ's cup can be tea, soup or really any hot beverage of your choice!  The word "soup" on my cup is a separate stamp - very cool!

Do you notice anything else on here that may be new??  TCP has a few fun little (ok, big) surprises for the release - wait until you see!!!  Of course I had to used a bit more of my favorite Divine Twine too!

Thanks for stopping in! Have a great day!

Summer's Simple Pleasures

Happy Kitchen Sink Stamps Monday!!  We had a great weekend.  Yesterday took my oldest, Emma (8 yrs) to her very first time at sleep-over camp.  I didn't get any calls in the night so I think that's a good sign! LOL!  She has a friend from church with her so hopefully they will help each other out.

Ok, on to the card.  On Friday, the children got it into their heads to go out back and pick blackberries.  I didn't think much of it until Ethan came in with a ton of berries in his bucket - he was so persistent and having such a great time!  The girls and I joined him and in about 30 minutes we had 5 cups of berries!!  We had the BEST blackberry cobbler for dessert - with vanilla ice cream of course!

That was it, I was inspired to make a card using Multi-Step Berries from Kitchen Sink Stamps. I stamped the yummy blackberries using

Step 3 - Elegant Eggplant (SU!)
Step 2 - Plum (Memento)
Step 1 - Elegant Eggplant (stamped off)

Leaves
Step 2 - New Leaf (Papertrey Ink)
Step 1 - Spring Moss (Papertrey Ink)
Step 3 - Always Artichoke (SU!)

Don't they look  yummy?  Please take a minute and visit the rest of the KSS Crew today and have a great Monday!

Make a Splash!

Happy Saturday!  Is anybody out there in blogland this weekend?  We've had some much needed rain today so I had a chance to stamp a bit and finished up a card I've wanted to make for TCP Tuesday from The Cat's Pajamas.  I recently won the Swanky Stamper of the Month so it was fun to do a bit of shopping with my prize money! Did you know you have a chance win Cat Cash (money to spend at TCP) for playing along with TCP Tuesday?  Fun stuff!  I actually chose 2 sets, Fun in the Sun and By the Sea so I'd be ready to make all kinds of fun summery cards!

The challenge this week is a color challenge.  I used By the Sea for my card and FTL 98.  I think I still kept the card CAS even though it has colored images - I thought it was fun that the stamp set had 3 of these cute images that looked similar!

One other fun tidbit about this card, I used some of the new Divine Twine from TCP.  Is it wrong to love twine so much??  I am in love with all the different colors of Divine Twine - I want it all! Hhhmm, perhaps I need to host a Divine Twine share . . . ! :)  I wanted to use it in place of ribbon with my Nesties ribbon slide but since it's pretty thin I used 4 strands of the Lemon twine and made a Sailors Knot to carry out the nautical theme!  I had some fun learning knot tying!

Thanks for stopping in this weekend.  I hope you all are having fun - I'm off to play with my new TCP stamps some more! :)

Cardstock: White (Gina K Designs), Summer Sunrise (Papertrey Ink), Patterned Paper: Sun Kissed Summer (Bo Bunny), Stamps: By the Sea (The Cat's Pajamas), Ink: Memento (Black & Pear Tart), Accessories:  Divine Twine (The Cat's Pajamas), foam adhesive, Nestabilities, sewing machine, Copic markers

Double

Good morning!  It's been so so hot here I haven't been able to stamp as much as I'd like too but I did squeeze in a bit of time yesterday when the heat broke for a few hours (don't you feel bad for me - lol!)  Seriously, I've had this little pile of My Favorite Things stamps sitting in front of me just begging to be inked.  Make Mine a Double seemed appropriate due to the heat and even though the July 4th holiday was over I was inspired to use red, white & blue for my card.

I stamped her on a MFT Perfect Panel - have you tried those?  I love the weight of them and how beautifully they take ink from Copics!  I stamped her several times and colored and cut out her "denim" dress.  Once it was cut out I ran it through using MFT's Grosgrain Texture Plate (sorry I can't find it on the site, perhaps it's on re-order!).  I love the subtle texture it gave to the dress - very much like denim!! Fun!!  I also colored and cut out the ice cream cone and her hand so that they wouldn't be sunken below the dress - lol!

I used two different patterned papers to make a wide stripe at the bottom and sewed that down around the whole edge of the card.  Then as I was searching for the perfect ribbon I found my stash of the girls old jeans so I cut a thin strip and adhered it around the card.  It still needed something since it was too thick to tie so, being inspired by seeing all the fabulous rolled flowers the MFT girls have made using their new Rolled Flower die, I made several denim rolled flowers.  Using denim makes a nice tight flower!

That's all for me today - we're headed to the lake after a busy, busy week for some swimming and fishing!  You have to enjoy it while you can, right?!  *wink*  Have a great weekend my friends and thanks so much for visiting! :)

Cardstock:  Kraft (Papertrey Ink), White Perfect Panel (My Favorite Things), Red (Gina K Designs), Patterned Paper:  October Afternoon and Papertrey Ink, Stamps: Make Mine A Double (My Favorite Things), Ink: Memento, Accessories:  Nestabilities, foam adhesive, rhinestones (Taylors Tiny Twinkles), sewing machine, Copic markers, Grosgrain Texture Plate (My Favorite Things), Clean Glaze pen
