Prettie Pieced Wednesday

Good morning!! I just can't believe how fast these Wednesdays roll around! LOL! Two weeks ago Joni, the fabulous illustrator at Paper Pretties, issued us a challenge to do a bit of paper piecing. I don't know what it is about this technique, but I do love it! I think it's the fact that you can really makes something look so pretty!

Since my card is going to Jana, and since I totally missed her birthday (so sorry again Jana!!!!!) I made this a birthday card for her - please forgive me for being tardy!! :) I used Partygirlabella - so cute! And, since it's been a while since I used my Imaginisce For Peep's Sake paper . . . it's just so pretty! I used Color Me Happy for this card.

I paper pieced her pants and one of the balloons. The rest are colored with Copics (see pic below for which ones) and Spica pens. I did a bit of experimenting today and found that the problem I was having with the black ink bleeding when I used my Copics was really due to the paper - not the ink!! When I used the Papertrey Stamper's Select white cardstock I didn't have a problem!
You can't see it in the photo but on the 2 corners without dp, I stamped a background image in VersaMark just for some detail. The little sentiment is from Billboardabella - cut out with my Nestabilities. I added a cute little teeny rose pink (matte) flower to the sentiment with a tiny Swarovski inside. That's about it - the layout was super easy but appropriate for a birthday card.
Last week Danielle challenged us to make a masculine card - one you wouldn't be embarrased to send to your dad or brother. Great idea! I need to get cracking on that one. It's Christie's turn to challenge us today - wonder what it will be. Please do check out the other Prettie Girls blogs (over on my right sidebar) and have a great day!!

Cardstock: Lemon Tart, Stamper's Select (PTI), Color Me Happy dp (Imaginisce), Stamps: Partygirlabella (Stamping Bella), Inks: Palette Noir, Accessories: Copic markers, ribbon (American Crafts, Spica pens, Dimensionals, Nestabilities, Flower (Stamping Bella), Swarovski crystal
