Masked Prettie Wednesday
Hello again! Two weeks ago Joanne challenged us to "mask it!" We were to using masking in some way, shape or form. I'll be honest and tell you that I didn't do my card until last night . . . I am so far behind on things! I wanted to do something unexpected - most of my masking thus far has been putting "floors" under Sophia's feet! :)
I used 2 Paper Pretties' sets here, Look Who's Perky (an awesome coffee-lovers set) and Sassy Circles (a wonderful basic set of shapes). I started with a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and used my corner rounder to add a scalloped edge across the bottom. Then I stamped the line of coffee mugs in Burnt Umber Palette ink. I stamped the mugs again on my Eclipse Tape and cut each mug out (it was a bit time consuming but really not that bad!). After applying my masks, I used the circle image from Sassy Circles to stamp "behind" the mugs. I could have masked the circles too but decided I liked the overlapping look better - the colors look kinda neat when they blend!
I did watercolor just a few of the details on the mugs but otherwise left them plain for the contrast. The ribbon is some American Crafts ribbon I've had for a while. The pinks & browns worked well but the background was white - bummer! But wait! I have Copics now! So I whipped out my Skin White Copic (the closest I have to vanilla) and colored the ribbon with the large chisel end - perfect!! I'm pretty happy with the result! Did any of you try the challenge? We'd love to see!! Be sure to check out the other Prettie Girls' blogs (links are on the right) for their Masked Projects.
Last week Charmaine challenged us to watercolor - YEA! I love to watercolor so that should be fun (yes, I haven't done that yet either!). This week it's Jillian's turn to issue the challenge - come play along!! :) Have a wonderful day!!

ReplyDeleteI love all of your repeating circles. Don't you hate when you have an idea in your head that proves very tedious in actuality. But the masked cups are perfect.
ReplyDeleteTime consuming, I guess maybe! Wow, what great results though.
ReplyDeleteVery Nice, love the colors. -Molly B
