Thanks for the Lift!

Sadly, today is my last post as a Sugar Baby for The Sweet Stop Saturday Sketch team.  My six month term has come to an end and there will be some brand new Sugar Babies next week.  It's been so much fun to work with all the great ladies and a HUGE thank you to Korin for having me!!

Today's sketch was lots of fun and I used a very pretty new digi stamp from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps called Hot Air Balloon.  The colors were somewhat inspired by the cover of one of our school books from this past year, The Twenty-One Balloons by William Pene du Bois (what a fun book that was!), although the pretty green didn't make it into the card.  I had some fun with my Copic markers and also a white gel pen on this card!  I think balloons are very "in" right now and this one is super cute!

Happy Weekend! It's time for another Saturday Sketch from The Sweet Stop and this week we have a "sketch with a spin" - decorate the inside of your card. I don't do that often enough, it really finishes off the card nicely!

I used a beautiful set from Flourishes today called From the Garden. Believe it or not but the pot and the flowers are 2 separate stamps - neat! There are a few different options of flower to use with the pot and I chose the geranium.  Geraniums always remind me of my mother-in-law, she always has several pots of red geraniums around her house and yard and seems to have a way with them! :)

I loved this sketch - pretty clean and simple but very versatile! After I colored my image with Copic markers I cut it out and stamped the sentiment.  The patterned paper is from Jillibean Soup.  As I tried to decide what to add for ribbon or an embellishment I just started playing around with this thin silk ribbon and ended up making a small, loopy bow with a small button in the center.  I love the way the silk ribbon drapes so nicely and makes the bow seem soft and the loops remind me of all the small flowers in the geranium.

The inside is lined with the same dp and cardstock and I stamped the small image from the set in the bottom corner.

I saw this week that Kim and the My Favorite Things girls were highlighting Flopsey in all his cuteness, which inspired me to pull out a few of my Flopsey stamps (yup, you'll be seeing more of this cutie coming up!). This is Flopsey Chocolate Bunny and don't you just love his recliner - lol!  The dp is from October Afternoon of course!

Welcome to the Saturday Sketch from The Sweet Stop!  It's been a while since I pulled out some fun Stamping Bella stamps and this little turtle, Picking Posies, just called to me - he's just so adorable!  I also really like this sketch - it's totally versatile as you will see if you scroll down to the post just below this one.  

I used some pretty bright colors and some fun Raspberry Fizz felt too.  The flower was made by using some Cuttlebug die cut flowers with patterned paper and felt.  I just stacked them and punched holes in the center so that I could add my ribbon.

Welcome to another Saturday Sketch from The Sweet Stop!  I hope you won't mind a few more clouds?  I know you've seen them here a lot but I cannot help myself! :)  Please be sure to check out The Sweet Stop blog for the sketch as well as all the great cards from the Sugar Babies.

I used the Up, Up & Away set from Papertrey Ink for my card.  The balloons were so much fun to color and arrange.  I stamped the medium one first and then masked it to stamp the smaller one (which is floating off farther in the distance).  The largest one was stamped twice, with one being colored, cut out and popped up with foam adhesive.

I played around quite a bit with the layers and colors for this one and in the end I went with black polka dotted paper for the mats.  The clouds were stamped with Fresh Snow on Spring Rain cardstock.  The white background panel was embossed with the cloud dies (simply flip them over to get a nice flat embossed area!) - what a great option with these dies!  The sentiment "sun" was cut out using Nestabilities Pinking Circles. Oh, and I added a bunch of bling to the large balloon and the corners.

Happy Weekend!  It's a beautiful weekend and I'm laptopless - LOL!  (sorry, that just struck me as funny).  My laptop is in the shop having pooped out on me yesterday.  I'm hoping it's just in need of a cleaning and file shifting but we'll see.  The bonus is that I've gotten more things done - sad, but true! :)

Ok, so it's time for the Saturday Sketch from The Sweet Stop.  I used a cute from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps called Peek-a-Boo Sophie.  I think she's just adorable and really fun to color!!  You can't see it behind the image but the blue paper has clouds on it . . . so, I used one of the new cloud dies from Papertrey for my sentiment - fun stuff!

Happy Saturday!  It's time for another sketch from The Sweet Stop and this week our sketch has a spin - "For the Guys."  Well it worked out just perfectly this week because I just got my Little Loveosauras from My Favorite Things - he's toooo cute!! What a perfect set for any "guy!" :)

I started by stamping the image on a Perfect Panel, also from MFT, and again directly on some dp from My Mind's Eye (the Stomp Collection).  The green dp is slightly textured and grunged up a bit so I thought it would be perfect dinoskin! So I paper pieced Jack's (he's named after my friend Joanne's  son) little suit making it easy on myself by not cutting out the spikes, those got colored with Copics. I bought this great dp a while ago just knowing someday I'd make a dino card!! 

Aren't the colors very "guy-ish" but yummy?!  I added some dino-texture to the cardbase by using a Cuttlebug embossing folder, Tiny Mosaic.  The sentiment was stamped using Fresh Snow ink and I even finished the inside of the card! The two sentiments go so well together!

Mom's Day (SSS55)

Good morning and happy weekend!! It's time for the Saturday Sketch from The Sweet Stop and since tomorrow is Mother's Day I used the sketch to make a card for my MIL. 

The stamps are from Gina K Designs, Nana's Needlework and Nana's Needlework Sentiments.  I love love love this giant doily image! I wasn't sure how to use it at first, but then I started playing around and it is just so beautiful when stamped out!  I used some old SU! patterned paper that I discovered this week when I was digging around for another project.  I stamped the image directly on the patterned paper and used a pretty pearl for the center  The ivory piece behind it was stamped with the same image multiple times.

This set has so many beautiful images, I'm looking forward to playing some more!

It's Saturday again already?  That means it's time for the Saturday Sketch from The Sweet Stop.  This week I used an adorable digi stamp available from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps, this is Milton Reading and while I generally don't think mice are all that cute (since I live in an almost 200 year old home mice just aren't a cute topic - lol!) this image of Milton sitting under the flower with his book is adorable!

Fly Away!

Today it's time for The Sweet Stop's Saturday Sketch #53.  For my card today I used the newest stamp set from Papertrey Ink designed by Becky Oehlers called Fly Away.   This little set is adorable!!  I think we're going to convince Aaron (who turns 3 next Sunday) to have an airplane birthday so that we can use this set! :)

Hang In There (SSS52)

Happy Saturday! I'm currently in N. Hampton, NH at Stamping Around NH with 30 of my stamping buddies! We had such a great class last night taught by Donna Marie Cecere (we'll get her project posted over on our site soon)! Today's classes are going to be awesome!

But first I have today's Saturday Sketch from The Sweet Stop. I just picked up a couple of the newest Pure Innocence kids from My Favorite Things so what a great time to use them! This sweet set, Boy & Dog Tree Swing, appears to be out of stock right now, but I'm sure he'll be back soon!

The sketch today is our monthly Sketch with a Twist - Buttons & Bows. It was fun adding all those tiny little buttons!  If you look closely at the sketch you'll see that I tweaked it a bit - I tried so hard to get that 3rd little square of paper but it just wasn't working out so I left it out.  That's the beauty of a sketch challenge really right?  It's a jumping off point - somewhere to start! Sometimes you have to veer off a bit!  (BUT, if you're a rules girl like me, it's sometimes hard to veer - lol!) 

I had so much fun coloring this little guy.  I'm not sure if you can see very well in the photo but I added some clouds behind him just by using a cloud stencil and sponge.  In the close up photo you can see that I added a bit of texture to his pants by wetting a terry cloth towel with a bit of colorless blender solution and dabbing it on the colored pants.  It takes away the color and leaves a very cool texture!

Enjoy the Ride

It's time again for the Saturday Sketch from The Sweet Stop.  My card today uses more new paper I bought at Wholly Scrap! (are you getting a picture of me roaming around the store with a basket full of dp? LOL!  We really don't have any LSSs here in Southern Maine so this was a real treat for me!!) I'm in love with cloud paper lately - it's so whimsical and fun!  And this version from My Little Shoebox (a company I wasn't familiar with but now love) is super duper cute - love the notepaper lines and the polka dots and the colors!

The stamps are Everyday Button Bits from Papertrey Ink.  I wanted to use something other than buttons so I decided to do a bit of paper piecing with them (also to enter the Moxie Fab paper piecing challenge).  I looked through my Papertrey Ink sets and found different ways to make balloons.  For the large balloon I used an owl belly (hee hee) from Wise Owl Bellies.  I stamped it one the pink cardstock using Fresh Snow ink.  The smallest balloon in obviously a flower - a tiny one from Green Thumb.  It was stamped on the back of the cloud paper which is a sunny yellow/gold subtle stripe.  I added a teeny white brad to the center.  The last cloud uses a small solid circle from Take a Bough which was stamped on the cloud paper and punched with a 1/2" circle punch.

The final little bit of piecing is the sentiment tag - I was tickled when I found one of the clouds that my sentiment would fit in perfectly!!  Cutting out the cloud was a snap and doesn't it look cute popped up with foam adhesive?!  Love it!

Since tomorrow is Easter I thought I'd make my card as my greeting to all my wonderful friends in blogland! This wonderful digi image is from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps, called Country Church.  Interestingly, if you put a porch on the front with stairs leading up it would look very much like my church (if you are a history buff you might be interested to read this article written in 1930 when the church was renovated and dedicated).  I just love old buildings!  But I digress . . . . My card also uses Easter Blessings which is nice set of Easter sentiments also from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps.

Another favorite color of mine, yellow! It seems to be the perfect color for Easter!  A little trick I was reminded of by my friend Joanne B - I notched out the top of my image panel using a circle punch to make room for the ribbon knot.  Sweet!

Dotted Dahlias - SSS49

Hello my friends! Time for the Saturday Sketch from The Sweet Stop.  I think I was cold and tired, but I had a hard time working on this one. . . many card casualties are on my desk!  In the end I turned to my brand new Dahlias set from Papertrey Ink with the matching dies - brilliant!!  I love that I didn't have to take the time to cut the flower out, it was just sooooo easy!!  Do you love orange? I do!  I think it's such a happy color and I really love this polka dotted orange paper.  The pop of green makes it interesting too! 

It's hard to see in the photo but the black panel is embossed with the Swiss Dot embossing folder.  For the sentiment I die cut another dahlia but didn't stamp the flower, I just added some ink to the edges - kinda neat!

Balloon Girl

Happy Spring!! What a glorious day we are in for today - it's supposed to reach near 70 here today!! (This is a very unseasonable temp for us but I'm not complaining!!)  Thank you again to everyone who left birthday messages for me here and on FB!! I had a wonderful day and I am so thankful for all the wishes!!

It's time for another Saturday Sketch at The Sweet Stop - and there's a twist  . . . Fuzzy Wuzzy.  You should either use something fuzzy or it can be an image of something fuzzy.  Today I used one of my new My Favorite Things sets.  This is My Balloon, part of the ultra cute Pure Innocence line. As you can see, I added Sparkly Fluff to the little girls dress to make it appear to be fleece.  And yes, that is stitching you spy again - lol! :)

For today's card I took a more "impressionistic" approach to the sketch - it's not exact but I made it work.  Isn't that the beauty of a sketch?  You use it as a starting point, an inspiration, and you make it your own!  I used a brand new stamp set from Waltzingmouse Stamps called Roses in Bloom.  These roses are so gorgeous (and I love the font too)!!  The roses look like the sea roses (Rosa Rugosa) that we have in abundance here in Maine so that's how I colored them.  Once the smaller rose was colored and cut out, I stamped the smaller leaf on Spring Moss paper and cut it out.  For the background panel, I stamped it repeatedly using the small leaf in Spring Moss ink, then die cut it with Nestabilities Label Eight

These roses make me wish for Summer!  They are all over the ocean front town my parents live in and the smell is heavenly!  It won't be long now! :)
