Kitchen Sink PURSuE

A couple of weeks ago the ladies at PURSuE Your Art sent me one of their 2 Pocket Purses to alter for their joint campain with Kitchen Sink Stamps. I have been so busy with other projects but finally got a chance to try it out this weekend. I was a bit scared of it truthfully. . . how was I going to cover it and what would I use for paper and stamps?? It ended up being pretty easy and I'm happy with the result! I like this 2 pocket style best (they do have an 8 pocket purse which is sized for ATCs) because I think it just looks cleaner.

I used some beautiful paper from the Holiday collection at Webster's Pages (the paper on the top). I've had this particular paper for a few months - loved it but wasn't quite sure what to use it on - it always looked to big to use on a card - but I think it suits this project perfectly! The paper on the bottom is from Crate Paper (in the Holly Collection pack available at Paper Pretties). The stamp set is 3 step Holly & Mistletoe stamp set from Kitchen Sink Stamps. This set is so much fun to use - very easy too since the stamps are numbered, you always know what stamp to use first! I used the same colors throughout this project. All the greens are from the Kitchen Sink Store and are Versa Dew Drops in Sage, Tea Leaves and Pearlecent Thyme. For the berries I used Groovy Guave (stamped-off) and Cranberry Crisp (for the middle color I stamped-off first). For the Mistletoe stamp the base color is Pearlescent Platinum (which BTW is a GORGEOUS color!!).

The green paper layer is Always Artichoke and the card on the front of the purse also uses one of the background stamps from Backgrounds & Borders for the little starburst. I added clear Swarovski crystals to the insides of the bigger starbursts which were stamped with Encore Gold ink.

So, what do you think? Should I have added more "stuff" to it? I lean more toward the simplistic, clean style but do you think I should have added maybe some cool hardware accents to the bottom of the purse or the sides? Does it scream for more embellishment to you? The purse was a really fun project! Go check out the website for PURSuE Your Art - there are TONS of samples to view, directions and suggestions for embellishing them and lots more! Let me know if you make one - I'd love to see your work! Have a great day everyone!
