Sad Day
Today's the day that we are losing a family friend, my dog Cinder. I have had her for close to 14 years, since she was 4 months old. She was quite a high-strung dog in her early years, as most dalmatians are, but she's been a good dog and we're going to miss her (most of us anyway). She's had a rough week and it just seems like the right thing to do at this point . . . soooo sad though! She would have been 14 years old on May 11.
On a completely different note, I recently participated in a Bella swap at SCS. The cards I received back were beautiful!! Today I'm posting one of the cards that I submitted. It was in the very beginning of my bella obsession - with one of the very first bellas I ordered, Balloonabella. I had fun creating this card I remember - it was one of the first times I discovered heat embossing brads! I love Balloonabella's pretty paper dress and shiny balloons. There's also a touch of glitter on her shoes.
Cardstock: Close to Cocoa, Lavendar Lace, WW, Loves Me DP
Ink: Black Stazon
Accessories: Prima flowers, brads, White EP, Dazzling Diamonds glitter, Crystal Effects, Watercolor Wonder crayons
Hope you all enjoy the day, thanks for stopping by!
Oh Julie, I am so sorry about Cinder, she looks so sweet. I remember when we had to have our Golden Retriever put down cause she was so ill and it was heart rendering. Lots hugs to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteI recognise that card, he he he
I'm so sorry about your dog! I know how hard it is to make that decision. Hugs!!!
ReplyDeleteThe Last Battle
ReplyDeleteIf it should be, that I grow frail and weak
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then will you do, what must be done?
For the last battle cannot be won.
You will be sad, I understand,
But don't let grief, then stay your hand,
For on this day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship, must stand the test.
We have had so many happy years,
When the time comes, hold back your fears
You wouldn't want me to suffer so,
Please, won't you please, let me go?
Take me where to my needs they'll tend,
Only, stay with me until the end
And hold me close and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time you will agree
It is a kindness you do to me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I have been saved.
Don't grieve that it must be you
Who has to decide this thing to do;
We've been so close, we two, these years,
Don't let your heart hold any tears.

I'm so sorry about Cinder! I know how difficult this decision can be. (((Hugs)))
ReplyDeleteYour Bella card is very sweet.
What a sweet card. I am so sorry to hear about Cinder...I pray for an easy passing and all good memories.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear about Cinder. Having a dog we all love very much, I can completely empathize with your feelings! We also had to make that same decision about our beloved cat just 2 months after moving him over here to Germany, and it's not easy!
ReplyDeleteLots of Huggs!!!
(and I LOVE your bella card!!)
Jana
Oh so sad! I'm sure it wasn't any easy decision. :( Love your Bella card!
ReplyDeleteJulie,
ReplyDeleteI too am sorry about Cinder. My heart goes out to all of you. I'm glad you will have a baby soon to keep your mind off it, it's never easy to lose a pet. All my best,
I was just there with my dog of 12 years. But the greatest show of love to our furry children is keeping them from pain. We should all be so lucky to have someone care about us in the same way.
ReplyDeleteCinder will have so many friends on the other side. Hey Cinder, find my Clancy and hang with him-he's a good one.
OH Im so sorry to hear about your dog ...I know its hard as I have 2 dogs myself .....HUGS :(
ReplyDeleteOh...I'm so sorry to hear about your pup. We've got one that is probably nearing the same stage and I know it's going to be tough. Hang in there...
ReplyDeletePS - The family photo is absolutely beautiful!
Awwwwwhhhhhhhh, I'm so so sorry for you and your family. Trust me I know what you are going thru, I've had to put down a 7 yr old lab, 15 yr old lhasa apso, and lost our 7 yr old St. Bernard this past Labor Day 2006.
ReplyDeleteOn the brighter side, we have my chocolate lab cocoa (9 yrs) and ebony black lab (1) who is pregnant! So akc lab puppies are on the way for 2007! And, we plan on keeping one from her litter.
my heart hurts for you as you are going through this. It is so hard to do. We have recently had to do this with 2 animals and our old redbone hound is getting nearer. You will never forget her and when you feel able, you can save another's life by adopting from a shelter. My thoughts are with you and your family. janet in nc
ReplyDeleteJulie, I am so sorry about your dog. I have tears running down my face because I had a Dalmatian named Blaze who had to be put to sleep a few years ago. I was out of the state and not there to say goodbye to her. It broke my heart. Hugs!

Hope this poem will help to comfort you...
ReplyDeleteJust this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Julie, I'm so terribly sorry about Cinder. We had to do the same thing to our dalmatian a few years ago. Mandy had a back and hind leg problem and it just wasn't fair anymore. We had to do the deed on her 12th birthday. It was the saddest day I've ever had. Much love to your family!!
ReplyDeleteI am so, so sorry about your gorgeous dog. Kacy's poem is just right.
