Finally Friday!
Yippy!!!! The snow has not started yet . . . so I am going on my girls weekend away. We are leaving around 1-ish for North Conway, NH and won't be back until Saturday evening - unless of course we get snowed in and just have to stay another night! :) I cannot tell you how excited I am, but then, anyone out there with children will understand completely!
As I mentioned yesterday's SCS Ways to Use It Challenge was to use die cuts. The instructions did say, however, if you don't have a die cut machine, improvise . . . cut something out, use pre-made die cuts. So I decided to try using my punches and other cutting apparatus. Here was my first attempt - I wanted to give my Chatterbox Doodle Genie a try (remember you can win one of these for yourself in my Birthday Blog Candy contest - go comment, you have until Monday!). And I was trying to use the Color Challenge from Tuesday which was to use Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, Really Rust, So Saffron and Cool Caribbean. So I used the Big Blossom stamp from SAB for the Rust Flower. For the Saffron flower, I cut out a circle using my CM cutting system and then used my Slit punch (putting the punch through the center of the cut-out circle) and punched all the way around the circle to make the flower petals - make sense?? I backed it with a Caribbean circle and stamped the center. Once finished, with doodles and all, I wasn't completely satisfied . . . it just didn't thrill me, it needed something???? So I decided to try again.
This time I used the Loves Me DP and a different color scheme. I also added another flower using my oval punch and made the center of the Regal Rose flower using the DP and the Spring Flower punch. I like this one better but I still am not completely happy with it - I guess maybe I really do need a Cuttlebug! :) So, what deals have people gotten on these?? How can I purchase one without spending a lot of $$$$?? Tell me, tell me, PLEASE!

I used my Michaels coupon on my Cuttlebug (they do count...it's cricut that doesnt) and I think I got it for $40 ish bucks. I don't remember for sure but I know it was under $50. You might look around ebay also.
ReplyDeleteYour cards are great! I love the colors on the pink and brown one...have fun this weekend!
ReplyDeleteThe Cuttlebug is 10 dollars cheaper at Michaels than AC Moore (here in Maine anyway, lol), so go there and use your 40% coupon. Like Melissa said, the coupons do work for the Cuttlebug.
ReplyDeleteJust in case you didn't know, AC Moore's and Michael's take competitors coupons (which also includes JoAnn's coupons!!)
I won a $50 gift card at the last Moonlight Madness sale at AC Moore, and after using a 40% off coupon, I got my Cuttlebug for 3.99. Don't hate me. :)
