Weekend Recap

I thought you might be interested in seeing a few pictures of our fun Stamping Around weekend in Vermont! Kim did a fabulous wrap-up on the Stamping Around website, so check that out or me pics but here are a few of mine.

Our first class Friday night was so much fun! Erika Martin had us complete an 8x8 canvas board using paint and patterned paper scraps! Each person's came out so unique and beautiful! See the Stamping Around site for a picture of several of them lined up together. My canvas turned out very bright and colorful as I used lots of fun scraps from October Afternoon.

The first class on Saturday morning was taught by Joanne Basile and sponsored by Stamping Bella (patterned paper provided by eclectic Paperie, cardstock by Gina K Designs and die cut box by Jody Morrow). Seriously, how cute are those cards??!!

The second class was taught by Cindy Lawrence and sponsored by Our Craft Lounge (again, patterned paper was from eclectic Paperie and cardstock from Gina K Designs). Cindy made these adorable, uniquely-sized cards with a wonderful box to put them in an envelopes with patterned paper flaps! We had lots of great coloring therapy with these first two classes! :)

Next up, Jenn Shurkus and her wonderful AMuse halloween cards - 5 in all! Yes, 5!! Jenn was ultra organized and the nice, clean style of AMuse made them quick and fun to complete!

Finally, it was my turn! It had been a long, busy day of stamping but we needed to complete this cute, clear box filled with wax pumpkin tarts and a votive candle. My class was sponsored by Kitchen Sink Stamps and we used a brand new set that will be released on September 25 (how fun that we got a sneak peek!!). This project will also be my Project of the Month for KSS so watch my blog for complete details and instructions next week!

Rainy days . . .

Well today is a rainy day here in the Northeast, but it hasn't gotten me "down" today! :) There are just so many exciting things going on! The days are flying by . . . have you ever noticed how fast a week can go??

Ok, enough chatter, since it was rainy today I decided it was the perfect time to use another of my new stamps from the Paper Pretties Corner Store. I am officially in love with these Rubber Romance stamps! This is Tiffany - she looks like a Tiffany doesn't she? I just love the hair blowing in the breeze and her styling raincoat! Go check these out in the store - there are so many great ones - plus there are a ton of products on sale right now!! Great deals!! :)

So for this card I used some scraps of Cosmo Cricket Dutch Girl Sofia - love the soft colors in the paper. Tiffany's raincoat is paper pieced with the Sofia paper. I used an old sketch of mine that I love - it works great for large images! The ribbon is some I got from Michaels earlier in the year). The sentiment is A Muse.

Hot Summer Days

Yea! I did get to stamp today . . . it's been a while. I wanted to play with my relatively new Hot Stuff set from My Favorite Things. It has been sooooo hot here for a while. Now don't get me wrong, I love summer in Maine, but for maybe 1 or 2 weeks out of the summer when it gets to be high 80's and 90's I start to wilt (I definitely wouldn't make it in the south!). I haven't been to the beach to see if it's any better there, so I thought I'd take a mental journey with this card.

I wanted to try a few different things with this one. I cut up a very cheap washcloth (I think from Target) to make the beach towel, cute huh? For the umbrella I used my Giga Scallop punch and some paper I purchased from Paper Pretties as a suggested add-on with my July box (all the DP on this card is from PP). I added some red lines coming from the center for the umbrella look, a prima in the center with a brad to make it look like the top of the umbrella. The stick is one of those fancy toothpicks just stuck in the "sand"paper. I stamped the flip flops on DP and cut them out. The sentiment is A Muse - love it!!! And the ribbon is some I purchased from Jacksonbelle Embellishments. Oh and there is a cute little crystal in her belly button that came in the July box from Paper Pretties.

So Happy Summer everyone . . . get out and enjoy it while it's here! Is it August already?????

Quick post

Ok, here's a quick post for today. Have you seen the A-Muse-A-Palooza blog?? They've been having great challenges and contests and sneak peeks for several weeks now and since I didn't have any AMuse stamps I couldn't participate.

So when I received my cute little circus stamps for Aaron's announcements I was thrilled to be able to do this week's Challenge 6 - Heating Things Up! The challenge is to use heat embossing. So I used black detail EP for my announcer guy and tiger and used markers to give them some quick color! I also embossed the words. The paper is some I picked up at Michaels last week, thought it looked "circus-y."

Look at this beautiful Jacob's Ladder I received from Jana Weaver. You know her blog I'm sure, Jana's Creative Pursuits in Stamping. She's a fellow Mainer (although she lives in Germany now and gets to take the most fabulous trips!!) and makes gorgeous creations!! You can read about this one in this post. I love the story behind how she obtained all the coasters for this project! :)

Now I need to get printing some photos to put in it, so neat how the coasters actually flip! Thanks so much Jana!! Now come to Maine for a visit!

I know I haven't posted much in a while but here is a peak at one thing I've been working on. I'm not going to show the baby's birth announcements until after I send them, but here is a look at the Thank You cards. They do coordinate with the announcements so you get a small taste . . . .

When I saw these adorable new stamps from A Muse I thought they'd be so cute for baby things. Then I found the DP at Michaels, it's made by Anna Griffin and is so perfect (the other one is blue with cream dots). I used May Arts brown dotted organdy ribbon that I purchased from Jacksonbelle Embellishments' ebay store. I think I mentioned last time, she has gorgeous ribbons on her site and if you want the whole spool just email her . . . she's so helpful and sweet!

The cardstock is SU Very Vanilla and I used Stazon Black and Burnt Umber Palette inks as well as my SU Watercolor Wonder crayons. The words are from my Papertrey Ink Faux Ribbon set and the brown cardstock is Bazzill Walnut that I purchased from All That Scraps. Check out the site, the owner, Christine has great products - even some of those Marvy punches that are sold out everywhere! - and she has a Shopping $$ program where you earn money for shopping!
