CKC Manchester

Just popping in with a quick picture of the make & takes at the Paper Crafts table today. Actually, there was one more that I didn't get to photograph but the cards were just adorable and very creative - imagine using letter stickers on cards?!! Fabulous!

Kim Hughes was just a pleasure to "work" with and we discovered we both grew up in NY - she in Binghamtom and I in Albany!  I had a rough ride home, stuck sitting in 3 hours of traffic due to a truck fire on the ME Turnpike - yuck!  But it's great to be home safe and sound after a fun day! :)

Bubbles, Bubbles . . .

TGIF my friends!! I'm off today to CKC in Manchester so it's a great day!!   I'll be helping out at the Paper Crafts Magazine Make & Take table so if you are going please stop and say hello!  Kim Hughes will be there - how fun is that?!

Today is the last day for Prettie Peeks since tomorrow is the Paper Pretties release - it's May tomorrow!  My preview today is of a great new sentiment stamp called Bubbles Everywhere.  It's a great one to pair up with Bubble Time Sophia as well as Bubble Time Cooper (which is a new digi stamp being released tomorrow also).

Ok, now here was my thought process for this card.  "Bubbles, bubbles everywhere . . ." remember that scene in the Disney version of Cinderella when she is scrubbing the floor and singing??  Remember the bubbles floating all around her with the little reflections of her in them?  Well the great thing about this being a digi stamp is that I was able to resize it so that I could punch out a couple of smaller versions of Cooper to add behind epoxy "bubbles!"

Once I colored the cute image with my Copics I used my Nestabilities to cut it in a circle.  I then cut a scalloped circle from clear cardstock and layed it over my image for a bit of a bubble effect.  The smaller bubbles between the epoxy image bubbles are just a big blob of Glossy Accents.

For more peeks today please visit Frances and Jane and don't forget to check out the Paper Pretties homepage tomorrow for a look at all the new stamps available - all the Prettie Girls have made cards just for the release!  Have a fantastic Friday my friends!

Cardstock: Spring Rain, Clear Cardstock (Papertrey Ink), White (Neenah), Patterned Paper: Basic Grey, Stamps: Bubbles Everywhere, Bubble Time Cooper (Paper Pretties), Accessories: Nestabilities, Copic markers, Glossy Accents (Ranger), Spring Rain Ribbon (Papertrey Ink), corner rounder punch, Epoxy stickers (Making Memories)

Prettie Punchy Wednesday (PWC101)

Hello friends! Time for another Prettie Wednesday challenge, this time from Heather. Today's challenge is to use punches for your card - die cuts or Nesties don't count! What?? No Nesties??! Yikes! ha ha! I don't have that many punches anymore but I came up with something.

Today's featured sets are Rainy Day Friend and Soakin' Up the Sun. Both sets are 35% at Paper Pretties all this week.  Today's hop starts on Christie's blog so make sure you don't miss a thing!  For my card today I used Rainy Day Friend because I just love this set!  The images are so cute and just fun to work with.  I wish I looked this cute skipping through the rain - it's rainy and cold here now, where are my polka dotted boots?!  LOL!

Can you tell what punches I used?  Well my scalloped edge punch of course, and a corner rounder punch as well as a scalloped circle punch to make the distressed dp flower. And how about that fun plaid? Love it!

Hop on over to Jana's now and see what she's come up with today.  We'll be back to Prettie Peek tomorrow and I'll have one on Friday.  Thanks for stopping by today!

Cardstock: Innocent Pink (Gina K Designs), White (Neenah), Patterned Paper: We R Memory Keepers, Stamps: Rainy Day Friend (Paper Pretties), Ink: Memento, Accessories: Scalloped edge punch, corner rounder punch, scalloped circle punch (SU!), Copic markers, Clear Glaze pen, brad

Splash!

It's time for the Prettie Peeks to begin since May is almost here.  You can check out more peeks from the Prettie Girls all week and on Saturday all the new images will be available at Paper Pretties- some in rubber, some in digi.

My card today uses one of the new digis being released, Bubble Time Cooper - isn't he adorable?  I was totally inspired by his old fashioned wooden tub for this card - love the woodgrain!   It's hard to photograph but the bubbles got several coatings with my Clear Glaze pen - they looks so shimmery! I also used a clear epoxy sticker over my sentiment to give it a "wet" look.

Take a few minutes and visit Frances and Jane today - they have peeks too. :)  Thanks for visiting - have a great day!

Cardstock:  Dark Chocolate (Papertrey Ink), White (Neenah), Patterned Paper: Jillibean Soup, Stamps: Bathtime Cooper (Digi), sentiment from Make A Splash (Paper Pretties), Ink: Memento, Accessories: Woodgrain Impression plate, Button, Twine (Papertrey Ink), Epoxy sticker (AMuse), Corner rounder punch, foam adhesive, Copic markers, Clear Glaze pen

Thanks Berry Much

Good Kitchen Sink Stamps Monday to you!  It was such a pretty weekend here - it's so great to have nice weather.  It's put me in the mood for summer and summer fruit - I must be on a fruit kick lately after last week's Peach card! :)

Today I used Multi-Step Berries for my card but used some non-realistic colors for my strawberries. They do look pretty though don't they?  Here's the recipe:
Strawberries:
Step 3 - Rose Bud (stamped off)
Step 4 - Rose Bud
Step 2- Angel Pink
Step 1 - Angel Pink (stamped off)
Leaves
Step 3 - Bamboo Leaves
Step 2 - Bamboo Leaves (stamped off)
Step 1- New Sprout

The sketch is Karen Giron's Sweet Sunday Sketch (#66) - I love the strips down the side! It was fun going through my paper to find the best pieces to use!  I also used my new large scalloped circle Nesties and some fun green pearls.

Please take a few minutes to check out what the rest of the KSS Crew made today!

Fly Away!

Today it's time for The Sweet Stop's Saturday Sketch #53.  For my card today I used the newest stamp set from Papertrey Ink designed by Becky Oehlers called Fly Away.   This little set is adorable!!  I think we're going to convince Aaron (who turns 3 next Sunday) to have an airplane birthday so that we can use this set! :)

I had to switch the sketch around a bit in order to be use the cute little banner for the sentiment, but what a fun sketch!  Be sure to visit The Sweet Stop to see what the rest of the Sugar Babies have for you today and if you get a chance pay them a visit and then give the sketch a try yourself!

Sweet!

I have another sweet Pure Innocence card today - how can you resist those faces?!! This is Make Mine a Double from My Favorite Things.  For Stamping Around NH last weekend, the fabulous Kim sent us Perfect Panels to try out.  She sent us enough for one of the class projects and another set so that everyone could have one to try on their own.  I gave mine a try for this card and I have to say I'm very impressed!!  These are precut (4.25x5.5) pieces of heavyweight, ultrasmooth cardstock. For this project I used Copics to color and it took the ink like a dream - blended beautifully and there was absolutely no feathering or bleeding through!  I'll definitely be picking up some of these with my next order!  Thanks Kim!!

I started using Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge 70 but I flipped it and made that background piece oval.  Aren't these colors yummy together?  It happened by accident really, but I love them!  They remind me of sherbet - lol!  I paper pieced her little dress and gave her shiny patent leather shoes using a black Glaze pen.

Thanks for visiting today! Have a terrific Friday! :)

Cardstock: Kraft, Lemon Tart (Papertrey Ink), White (Perfect Panel - My Favorite Things), Patterned Paper: Close To My Heart, Stamps: Make Mine A Double (My Favorite Things) Ink: Memento, Accessories:  Nestabilities, Copic markers, Glaze pen, Vintage Button, Twine, Lemon Tart ribbon (Papertrey Ink), yellow pearls

Prettie Dotty Wednesday (PWC100)

It's Wednesday and time for another Prettie Wednesday challenge - our 100th!!  I can't believe it really.  I remember when we started these challenges.  It started as a way for the design team to do something fun together, a sort of team building exercise.  We even mailed our cards to each other for each challenge - it was fun!!  Well, the challenges and rules have evolved over the years but they are still are tons of fun and I'm thrilled to be here for the 100th (I don't think there are more than a handful that I've missed!).

In honor of our 100th Prettie Wednesday we're giving you a gift - from today until the 24th all stamps in the Paper Pretties store are 40%!!  How's that for big?!  Wooo Hooo!!  But before you go shop . . . the challenge today is to create a tag and include polka dots on it.  If you didn't start today on Christie's blog, hop over there first!

I used Penny For Your Thoughts for my tag - it was a "no brainer" considering those great polka dots on one of the pigs! What a fun set this is!!  I took the colors from the cute Jillibean Soup dp.

Hop on over to Jana's now for more Pretties!  Have a great day!

Cardstock: Pretty In Pink, Soft Sky (SU!), White (Neenah), Patterned Paper: Egg Drop Soup collection (Jillibean Soup), Stamps: Penny For Your Thoughts (Paper Pretties), Ink: Memento, Accessories: Nestabilities, Copic markers, foam adhesive, word window punch, scalloped edge punch, ribbon

Smell the Flowers

The CAS challenge yesterday over on SCS was a sketch challenge based on this super cute card. I love the colors and the simple layout and those gingham apples are wonderful aren't they?!!  I thought about what to use and decided on this adorable set from Waltzingmouse Stamps called Sewing Box - Hugs.

I stayed with the gingham theme by using gingham for the centers of the flowers and colored the outer two layers using Copic markers.  The bottom strip of ties it all together and is paper pierced also.

The card size is 4.25" square and I used Gina K Designs Pure Luxury 120 lb cardstock for the card.  Not only is it a great weight for a card base (you won't have your card sagging because it's too weak to stand up - ha ha!), but it's perfect for coloring with Copics AND with this cardstock the Copics will not bleed on the back of the cardstock so you can made a one layer card and still have it look perfect on the inside!   If you haven't tried it yet you really should, it really is fabulous!!

Thanks so much for visiting today - have a great day!!

Peachy!

Good morning! Sorry for the late post this morning, I am trying to get back into things after being away this weekend and the busy day yesterday!  Lots of catching up to do! :)

It's Kitchen Sink Stamps Monday and today I have a peach of a card - LOL!  I pulled out the Multi-Step Peach which is one of the great mini sets (only $8.50 and if you use my coupon code JULIE10KSS you get 10% off!!).  Not only is this set so pretty, it even includes 3 sentiments and an ink recipe to stamp your peaches with!  Very cool!

I took a little inspiration for this from a card we made this weekend designed by Monika Davis.  Her card used the same circle & Blossom Nestabilities combo with the sponging around the edge and I thought it worked very well for this pretty image!  I just love these colors together - almost vintage-y with the great Cosmo paper.  I stamped the rest of the sentiment, "for a peachy day" on the inside of the card.

Here's the recipe for the peach (it's on the inside of the stamp package too!)

Step 3 - Rhubarb Stalk (stamped off), Step 2 - Tangelo (stamped off), Step 1 - Dandelion (stamped off) & Tangelo (stamped off), Step 4 - Rhurbarb Stalk (stamped off, repeat), Stem - Dark Chocolate, Leaves - Step 3 - Olympia Green, Step 2 - Cottage Ivy, Step 1 - Dandelion

Take a few minutes and visit the rest of the KSS Crew today.  I know you'll be inspired!!  Thanks for visiting today!

Hang In There (SSS52)

Happy Saturday! I'm currently in N. Hampton, NH at Stamping Around NH with 30 of my stamping buddies! We had such a great class last night taught by Donna Marie Cecere (we'll get her project posted over on our site soon)! Today's classes are going to be awesome!

But first I have today's Saturday Sketch from The Sweet Stop. I just picked up a couple of the newest Pure Innocence kids from My Favorite Things so what a great time to use them! This sweet set, Boy & Dog Tree Swing, appears to be out of stock right now, but I'm sure he'll be back soon!

The sketch today is our monthly Sketch with a Twist - Buttons & Bows. It was fun adding all those tiny little buttons!  If you look closely at the sketch you'll see that I tweaked it a bit - I tried so hard to get that 3rd little square of paper but it just wasn't working out so I left it out.  That's the beauty of a sketch challenge really right?  It's a jumping off point - somewhere to start! Sometimes you have to veer off a bit!  (BUT, if you're a rules girl like me, it's sometimes hard to veer - lol!

I had so much fun coloring this little guy.  I'm not sure if you can see very well in the photo but I added some clouds behind him just by using a cloud stencil and sponge.  In the close up photo you can see that I added a bit of texture to his pants by wetting a terry cloth towel with a bit of colorless blender solution and dabbing it on the colored pants.  It takes away the color and leaves a very cool texture!

Ok, I'm off to stamp more with my peeps! :)  Be sure to visit The Sweet Stop and see what the rest of the Sugar Babies are up to!  And we'd love for you to give the sketch a try - maybe you can get that 3rd square on there! :)  Thanks for visiting!

Salt Challenge: Home

This is my second post today, please scroll down for Jana's Birthday Hop!

The topic for today's Salt Challenge comes from Ruth and is Home. What makes one and how does Jesus make mine different to other homes.  What a great question!  Please take a minute to read Ruth's post on the Salt blog and look at the beautiful projects that the design team prepared.
As I thought about this a few things came to mind, the verses about my household serving the Lord, and on the Christian's job to be salt and light, but in the end I chose I Cor. 10:31 for my ATC.  "Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God."  Probably most people are familiar with this catechism question, "What is the chief end of man?" Answer: "To glorify God and enjoy Him forever."  Our highest duty, whether at home, work, school, or wherever is to bring glory to God.

Everything we do in our house to make it a home should be toward this end.  As John Piper puts it, "God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him!"

My ATC is fairly simple, I used sunburst paper from Scenic Route and added a bit of stitching with some DMC thread.  The verse was printed and then die cut using a Spellbinders ribbon slide tag.

Have a wonderful day!

Cardstock:  Summer Sunrise (Papertrey Ink), Patterned Paper: Grafton (Scenic Route), Stamps: flourish from Take Note (Papertrey Ink), Ink: Summer Sunrise (Papertrey Ink), Accessories:  Swarovski crystal, Spellbinders die, Summer Sunrise Ribbon (Papertrey Ink), Tag corner punch

It's Jana's Day!

It's been a while hasn't it?  It's been almost a month since we celebrated a Prettie Girl's birthday!  We can't have that!  So let's party today with Jana - it's her birthday!! :) I'm so thrilled to say Jana is my friend - not just a pretend one, but a for real one!  It's been a while since we've met up but hopefully this summer we'll catch up while she's here in Maine!

Ok, enough talk, let's party!!  You need to start the birthday hop at Christie's and then end on Jana's so that you can leave her some birthday love!  I had to pull out Sassy Shoes - I just love these images!! (sorry, I think it must be sold out!).  The layout is Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge #69 and the dp is some yummy My Mind's Eye  As you can see I paper pieced the main part of the shoe.  Love those big dots!!  The rose was also paper pieced and has a bit of chunky glitter added for some drama!

The sentiment is actually in 2 parts and it's from Bubble Time and I stamped the flower again under the sentiment with Sweet Blush ink.  The rest of the sentiment is on the inside of the card - it seemed very appropriate for a birthday!

Ok, so take a hope over next to Jackie's blog and be sure to wish Jana a Happy Birthday at the end!  Have a wonderful day my friends and Happy Birthday dear Jana!!

Prettie Spring-y Wednesday (PWC99)

Wow - this is Prettie Wednesday #99!! I can't believe that we've been doing this that long! Well, today's challenger is Jackie and the featured sets are Holy Mackerel and Surf's Up which will both be 35% off all week in the Paper Pretties store.  If you didn't come here from Christie's today, go ahead and start there so you don't miss anything.

The challenge is to create a card for Spring Break - 'tis the season you know!  Well, we don't really take Spring break here (I'd rather push on toward Summer break!) as much as I'd love to go sit on a warm beach, but here in Maine April 1st is opening day of fishing season.  So Holy Mackerel was actually the prefect choice! How cute is Snowflake (that's the penguin's name) with his fishing pole and bucket of fish!  My favorite part is his checkered hat.  I love the argyle dp (October Afternoon) with him - gives it a masculine feel doesn't it?  Even though I know most of you are saying, "sure without that huge bow" - LOL!

It's a pretty clean & simple layout since that's how I pretty much do things these days, but with that great dp you don't want to overdo it!

Click on over to Jana's blog now and see what she came up with!  Thanks for visiting!

Cardstock:  Baja Breeze, Kiwi Kiss (SU!), White (Neenah), Patterned Paper: Report Card (October Afternoon), Stamps: Holy Mackerel (Paper Pretties), Ink: Memento, Accessories:  Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Copic markers, Brads (Pink Hedgehog Crafts), Old Olive Ribbon (SU!), foam adhesive, corner rounder punch

Filled With Joy

Hello again! Sorry for the later post today but I do have a quick, fun card to share today using FTL#85 and some Papertrey Ink stamps.  At first I thought of using a floral set but I wanted to try something a bit unexpected - and I wanted to play with the Fillable Frame die I haven't used yet.

'The buttons were stamped using Dark Chocolate ink and the button from Tiny Treats Valentine.  I colored them in with Copic markers to match Hawaiian Shores, Hibiscus Burst and Summer Sunrise.  The frame cuts out so nicely and it's easy to stamp the outline and add your sentiment!

The Hawaiian Shores felt was cut with the ric rac die, only I used the piece left over instead of the thin ric rac strip.  A few real buttons added to the sentiment label and we're done!  And isn't that sentiment fun with all the buttons? It'd be cute to give this to a crafty friend with a little jar of buttons!

I'm off to finish up a few projects - hope you are enjoying your day!!

All Supplies from Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted:
Cardstock: Kraft, Hibiscus Burst, Stamps: sentiment from Everyday Button Bits, button from Tiny Treats Valentine, Fillable Frames #2, Ink: Fresh Snow, Dark Chocolate, Accessories: Fillable Frames #2 die, Vintage Buttons, Summer Sunrise grosgrain ribbon, Hawaiian Shores felt, Copic markers

Happy Birthday Cowgirl!

Monday, Monday . . . and this week is going to be full!  The exciting thing is that it ends with Stamping Around NH on Friday and Saturday!  I can't wait to get away and stamp the weekend away!

But first, it's Kitchen Sink Stamps Monday and I have a super fun card.  My Emma turns 8 next week (incredible I tell you!!) and she's decided she wants a "horse party."  It's funny how most young girls must go through a horse phase isn't it?  She's been reading a bunch of horse books, and watching horse movies, etc. I think she finally understands that we are NOT getting a horse! LOL!  So I thought I'd make her birthday card and I pulled out some of my Kitchen Sink Stamps to make it.

You know what I love about this card? The rope!  How cool is that?  It's from 3 Step Adornments! (Step 3 - Soft Suede (stamped off) (SU!), Step 2- Latte (Adirondack), Step 1 - Dessert Sand (Memento)). The stars are from Multi-Step Ornaments and Stars. (Step 3 - Summer Sunrise & Hisbiscus (Papertrey Ink), Step 2 - Dandelion (Memento) & Pretty In Pink (SU!), Step 1 - Lemon Tart (Papertrey Ink) & Angel Pink (Memento)).  The "c" in cowgirl is actually the small horseshoe from Multi-Step Lucky Horseshoe. (Step 3 - Soft Suede (SU!), Step 2- Latte (Adirondack), Step 1 - Dessert Sand (Memento)).  The rest of cowgirl is made using Mix It Up! and for the Happy Birthday I did some shadow stamping using Hibiscus and Angel Pink.

The pink gingham paper is more Jillibean Soup and I also used something completely new to me here, Co'ordinations paper.  Of course I've seen it before, but had never tried it for myself - it's very cool! The brown on this sheet sands away to light pink!

That's it for me today but please visit the other KSS crew members and have a great day! :)

Enjoy the Ride

It's time again for the Saturday Sketch from The Sweet Stop.  My card today uses more new paper I bought at Wholly Scrap! (are you getting a picture of me roaming around the store with a basket full of dp? LOL!  We really don't have any LSSs here in Southern Maine so this was a real treat for me!!) I'm in love with cloud paper lately - it's so whimsical and fun!  And this version from My Little Shoebox (a company I wasn't familiar with but now love) is super duper cute - love the notepaper lines and the polka dots and the colors!

The stamps are Everyday Button Bits from Papertrey Ink.  I wanted to use something other than buttons so I decided to do a bit of paper piecing with them (also to enter the Moxie Fab paper piecing challenge).  I looked through my Papertrey Ink sets and found different ways to make balloons.  For the large balloon I used an owl belly (hee hee) from Wise Owl Bellies.  I stamped it one the pink cardstock using Fresh Snow ink.  The smallest balloon in obviously a flower - a tiny one from Green Thumb.  It was stamped on the back of the cloud paper which is a sunny yellow/gold subtle stripe.  I added a teeny white brad to the center.  The last cloud uses a small solid circle from Take a Bough which was stamped on the cloud paper and punched with a 1/2" circle punch.

The final little bit of piecing is the sentiment tag - I was tickled when I found one of the clouds that my sentiment would fit in perfectly!!  Cutting out the cloud was a snap and doesn't it look cute popped up with foam adhesive?!  Love it!

So pop over to The Sweet Stop and check out what the rest of the Sugar Babies have made today!  Then go ahead and get crafty - make your own version of today's sketch and leave a link on The Sweet Stop blog!  Have fun and  . . . enjoy the ride!! :)
