We had FUN!
We had such a fun night Friday at Paper Pretties Stamping In Your Jammies where 4 sets and 2 sentiments were released. The newest Cutie Pie was announcement - Congrats Stephanie Hargis - go see her cute winning card! Charmaine comes up with the best challenges for us! The first was to make a black and white card with a splash of 1 color. We heard a lot of the word "cheater" - lol that night and I'm guilty because technically I used 2 colors . . but I needed them both!
I didn't plan to make one, but it end up being a gel card - my first one - fun!! (if you want to give one a try check out this great tutorial). I learned a couple of things making this card that I thought I'd share - maybe I'll save you some cardstock ;)
1. Since I used my Nestabilites to cut the circles you must cut the circles FIRST - before you emboss with your Cuttlebug folders (otherwise the embossing flattens!).
2. If you are stamping where there will be embossing, it's best to stamp BEFORE you emboss - duh - that one should have been obvious but yeah, I ended up doing it twice! :)
3. In order to line up the circles perfectly I tried to cut the smaller circle first through both layers - it didn't quite go through both layers, but it left enough of an impression that I was able to then cut each layer separately using the impressions as guides.
I used the new set Bugs and Fishes - isn't Wade E. Bug adorable with his snorkel gear on??!! Love his old-time swimsuit! The challenge was fun and the cards the other ladies came up with were so fun! Go check out all the challenge cards here! I'll be back tomorrow with a Prettie Wednesday challenge card and a few other treats!! :)
Final note - REMEMBER today is the day you can purchase the new Kitchen Sink Stamps - 7 new sets!! Check out all the KSS Crew members blogs (on my right sidebar) for their wonderful samples with all the new sets - I'll have another one tomorrow! :)
Cardstock: WW, Basic Black, Bashful Blue (SU!), Stamps: Bugs and Fishes (Paper Pretties), Inks: Tuxedo Black (Memento), Accessories: Soft Sky ribbon, gel, ziploc, Copics, Nestabilities, Cuttlebug embossing folder
I missed this card in the forum during SIYJ; it's so cute-great job for your first gel card, I'm not even sure I've made one at all! Oh and yes, you're a cheater but I understand why you had to use 2 colors, BUT you could have colored him soft sky too! *wink*
