An Exciting Night!

Phew what a day!! :) Busy busy busy around here. We are heading out on Thursday for a little 4 day vacation to visit some of my relatives in central NY and there's always lot to do in preparation.

Plus I'm a bit sleepy today from being up late at the Papertrey Ink release party last night! It was so worth it though - I found out last night that I won one of the categories in the Guest Star Stamper contest this month!! What a thrill it was to click on the Gallery and see my card there - I woke up my poor hubby with a little yelp of joy! :) Thanks to all those of you who already sent congrats, I really appreciate it!

So I thought I'd show you the 2 cards that I submitted. First, this was a quick little card I made the day I got my set. Every time I looked at this cute little bird I kept remember The Partridge Family logo - remember this?? (please tell me you remember - help me not to feel old! :) ) This card was totally inspired by this image in my head. It was a very quick card to make! I used Vintage Cream cardstock and 4 of the PTI Perfect Match ink colors, Aqua Mist, Sweet Blush, Lavender Moon and Lemon Tart. The ribbon is Lavender Moon Satin.

All Supplies Papertrey Ink. Cardstock: Vintage Cream, Stamps: Birds of a Feather, Inks: Aqua Mist, Sweet Blush, Lavender Moon, Lemon Tart, Accessories: Lavender Moon Satin ribbon

This is the card that won in the Birds of a Feather category. As I looked at the set I thought it would be fun to make a bird couple. So I used a mirror image technique to make the second bird (take a large solid stamp, stamp your image on it and then stamp that on your paper). I started out thinking this would be a wedding card so I added lots of pretty layers. I used my Nestabilities to cut the Vanilla Cream layer and vellum cardstock layer and then I put the vellum layer through my Floral Fantasy Cuttlebug embossing folder to add some texture. I embossed the large rectangle on the Aqua Mist cardstock with the largest rectangle Nestabilities. The ribbon is Chocolate Chip satin which is retired SU! I was so excited to see the color released this month by PTI is Chocolate - including some beautiful satin ribbon!! Funny thing, when I made this card my husband thought I was crazy for using such a "big ugly bow"! Men . . . what do they know?! :)

I ended up turning this into an anniversary card by stamping the sentiment Life is a Journey on the front and Happy Anniversary on the inside. I finished off the card with a couple Bella pearls on the edge of the ribbon.

Thanks so much to Nichole and Candice (who designed this set) for so much creative inspiration! Go check out the galleries for this months release and the other GSS entries - they are amazing!

Have a great night everyone!

  1. Oh Julie, Congratulations. I had to check out a bit early last night because of a nasty head cold. I came back at midnight just long enough to place my order. I totally missed that you won. How exciting! I love this card. Did I already tell you that, because I meant to last night. I really wish I had bought this set because I need a wedding card for this weekend and now this card is all I can think about making. Anyway, have a great little vacaion and congrats again. -Molly B
