KSS Project 2

Welcome back! Haven't you seen some great stuff on the Kitchen Crew blogs?! I'd love to know what your favorite new release is so far???? Leave me a comment and tell me what you think!

I'm so excited about this project - it's for my DH for Father's Day! I think this will be great for his desk at work! :) When I saw the Playful Stars set I fell in love!! The other Crew members have made the coolest patriotic cards with it! Combine this set with Ready 4 Any Holiday and Swirly Hearts & Stars and you are truly ready for anything!!

But, for my project I wanted to make something that wasn't red, white and blue, not for a patriotic holiday to get you thinking about other uses for stars! First, I used coasters that I picked up last week when Kim and I went to Chili's for lunch - aren't they a cool size?! We joked at the time about challenging each other to use them - how'd I do friend?! LOL! :) The coasters are a neat size, and I'm pretty sure it was Kim who said they would make a fun accordion fold album. I started with some fun Scenic Route paper, the Metropolis collection (along with the Bazzill cardstock pack that coordinates with it). I covered both sides of the coasters, lots of Zip glue, lots of sanding. Then I pieced them together using some fun wide turquoise twill tape I had in my stash (I don't remember exactly where it came from but I do remember it was the "ribbon" on a present I received) I cut strips to length, added some Sticky Strip to both edges and put it on both the inside and outside of all the joints.

Next I started adding my photos - remember I mentioned you see these again? :) I had so much fun adding lots of fun stars! Some were stamped directly on the designer paper and some were stamped and cut-out. On many of them, I added a Swarovsky crystal to the center or a Making Memories Velvet Brad.

The titles on the front of the book were made by using lots of pieces from the 3 Step Baseball set. It may seem a bit convoluted, but I stamped "Dad", added the "dy" individually using pieces of other words, added 's from "Happy Father's Day". Then stamped "Star" from "To A Real All Star" and added the "s" which is an individual stamp included in the set. It worked! :)

Finally, I tried stamping directly 2 of the photos with an image from Swirly Hearts & Stars using White Stazon ink, a neat way to tie it all together!

Remember to check out what the other Kitchen Sink Crew members have made - you'll love them! And please some back at 3 pm for my final project, a card made with the newest 3 step flower stamp! :)
