Kitchen Sink Project Part 2
Hello again, although a bit later than I expected. Here is another project I came up with using the PolyShrink and the new Kitchen Sink Stamp set Love & Luck. I found these French Barrette Hair Clips on Artbeads.com and thought they would be quick and easy. I have 2 girls so we are always searching for cute hair accessories! I should have read the product dimensions better - these hair clips are quite big, too big really for my girls (who are 4 & 5). The clips are almost 4 inches long so the finished size of the them ended up being 4 3/8" long. I'm sure there are tons of places to get smaller clips though and I plan on looking for them soon.
But they did come out cute! The package of PolyShrink says that it shrinks to 45% of size so it took me a couple of tries to get the correct size to cover the clip. I ended up using a 2.5" wide by 10.5" strip. I slightly rounded the ends by using my CM cutting system with a large oval, I just centered it over the end. After sanding the PolyShrink I stamped them using the VersaCraft ink. Since these were so large I used my toaster oven (set at 350) to shrink them rather than a heat tool. It was a lot of fun to watch them shrink up - the girls loved it! :)
The red one and the green one were both done with translucent PolyShrink. The pink & purple one was done with white. Once the were shrunk I used my E6000 glue to attach it to the barrette. Then I need to add a bit of bling, of course!! Some strategically placed Swarovskis and they were done!
I've had lots of neat suggestions for other projects with PolyShrink! Keep them coming . . be sure to enter for some Jules Jewels by commenting on yesterday's post! Have a great night everyone . . 3 more sleeps until I'm off to CHA!! :)
