Coasters Anyone??
How many of you saw the fabulous Project of the Month over at Kitchen Sink Stamps?? Becky Oehlers dreamed up this beautiful project and enlisted the aid of Maria in finding the perfect 3.5x3.5 acrylic blocks for her project (Maria actually had these custom made - how cool!). I fell in love with the look of these and immediately ordered myself a set - they are even more beautiful in person! You can see through them perfectly, like a window, they are so clear and pretty! I was almost afraid to mess them up! LOL! Then I saw these other projects Becky made and decided I need to just jump right in and try.
Yesterday's color challenge on SCS gave me the inspiration to start. Since I had just received my new 3 Step Daisy stamp set from KSS I thought the color combination would work very nicely. I've finished 2 of the coasters and want to know what you think! Which edge finish do you like best, the ribbon or the dew drops? ETA: I have a poll up on the Left sidebar - let me know which you like, or do you have another idea?? I think they are both pretty but I'm leaning toward the dew drops because of the extra sparkle and shine. The 3 Step Daisy set is a lot of fun! I used Cameo Coral (stamped off) for the lightest layer, Rose Red (stamped off) for the middle and Rose Red full strength for the darkest color) For the orange flower I used More Mustard (stamped off) for the lightest and Pumpkin Pie for the next 2 colors. The leaves are Certainly Celery and Always Artichoke (stamped off). The back of the coasters are layered with a chipboard coaster which has been covered with Certainly Celery DP from SU!
This project wasn't really that hard and once I did the first one the second one was a lot faster. Becky's tutorial was just perfect! I also purchased some of the smaller blocks Maria carries in the store and can't wait to try them too. I think these coasters will make a beautiful gift, homemade gifts are always the most cherished don't you think?
I know we are all busy during these last 2 weeks before Christmas . . .I will post when I can. I also feel bad that I haven't had a chance to do much blurfing and commenting on all the wonderful cards and projects so many of you have - I will get there I promise!!! :) Have a great week!
