Stuck on You with Avocado Arts!

My post from the Avocado Arts blog a few weeks ago featured the September set, Stuck on You.  It's such a fun set to play with so I thought I'd share two of the cards here today!

First, this bicycle stamp is so sweet! I love that it's a great solid image stamp making it so versatile! I simply stamped it on patterned paper with the sentiment - done!

Next up, (sorry it didn't photograph very well), is a quick card with the fun washi tape stamps! Now you can make it any color you like! I used a piece of real wood paper and stained it a darker color to highlight the washi! The sweet little flower stamp is great for background stamping!

Thanks for stopping by today, have a wonderful day!! :)

Avocado Arts June Stamps - Are We There Yet?

Hello!  Today's my turn to share the June Stamp of the Month from Avocado Arts, Are We There Yet?   It's travel theme is perfect for summer!  Check out the AA blog for all the great digital offerings that coordinate with the set perfectly.  I used a few of them in my cards too!

First up, Life's an Adventure.  For this card I used the digital Paintable, Small Arrows, only I left it mostly just B&W.  I love the fun little camper image, such a retro design!

The blue arrow is from the coordinating Printable Card Kit. The green pattern was cut from a vintage magazine - it's a crop circle! LOL!

This next card is just something I had an idea for and thought it was fun.  I put the sign post from Are We There Yet? up in the sky and used some clouds that were from the Digital Cut Files for Perfectly Perfect Day.

The great thing about the digital cut files is that you can change their size very easily!  I made my clouds 3 different sizes.

And last but not least . . .

I used the suitcase image to stamp with Versamark ink on the card itself and then used a great vintage map from my stash to create a tag.  It's brushed with a light wash of paint to tone down the colors a bit.

The fabulous little luggage tag was stamped onto vintage ledger paper and the arrow is another one from the Printable Card Kit.

Thanks so much for visiting today and (hopefully) sticking through the long post!  Be sure to visit the Avocado Arts blog to know which Pit Crew member to visit each day!  Have a great day!

Future's Bright with Avocado Arts!

This month's Avocado Arts Stamp of the Month set, Future's Bright is super terrific!  What's great about this set is that it covers so many areas - it's great for photographers, scrappers, graduates, students and so much more!!  I had fun playing with the different elements of this set, and the coordinating digital cut file.  AND there are even more Digital Die Cut files and Digital Printable Card Kits that coordinate with this set - check them all out!!

First up is a little mixed media inspired tag that I created as a graduation gift tag.  I was recently creating a different tag and had some ink left on my craft sheet which I cleaned up with this tag.  I set it aside knowing that the perfect time would come - viola!

So since the background colors and stencil was already there I just added some of the great elements of Future's Bright to it!  I stamped the sunburst in the center, masked it and then stamped the "Future's So Bright" sentiment over the square.  Then I lightly drew a box around it to make it stand up from the page a bit.  I stamped a bunch of the stars all over the tag and "Congrats" across the bottom.

Lastly, I stamped the funky glasses on some book paper, cut them out and added them using some Gel Medium.  The "Class of 2013" was added using Avocado Type - love the style of lettering!!

Next, is a fun card using the lightbulb image.  This is pretty much the chalkboard technique but using and image instead of words.  I stamped and embossed the lightbulb onto black cardstock.  I used red and yellow Prismacolors to add some coloring and lines and then sponged on white ink inside the light bulb and around it.

Again, my love of washi tape pops up and it seemed to be the perfect thing to finish this card off - oh and the bling, can't forget the bling!

Finally a little CAS number for you.  I had a seen a card similar to this somewhere (although I cannot remember where!), having a picture hanging from a tiny clothespin, seemed cute!  For my version I used the coordinating Ditigal Cut file and my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the Polaroid shape and the "you" for the sentiment.

A bit of brightly colored patterned paper gives a little pop of color and some layered bling and sequins add just the right little touches I think.

That's my line up for today.  Hope you've been inspired by something you've seen and that you'll pop over to Avocado Arts and pick up this month's set, Future's Bright! Thanks so much for checking out my card!

Avocado Arts April Share

Good morning my friends!  Sorry for my lack of posting again this week, as this post goes live I am in NY to attend the funeral of my dear Uncle Tom.  His passing was unexpected and way too fast.  He was such a wonderful man and is already greatly missed by my whole family!

Anyway, if you follow the Avocado Arts blog or any of the Pit Crew you already know that we changed up the way we post.  Each Pit Crew member now has one day of the month dedicated to showcase the Avocado Arts Stamp of the Month.  My day is the 18th, so each 18th of the month I'll be posting my projects.  This month's set is Perfectly Planted - such a fun set, for gardening fans, or just fans of flowers!  Let's get to it!

This first one is 4.25" square and I used the gardening utensils and small flower to make a background pattern - love doing this!  Then I stamped and cut out the pot with the small fork (is that what it's called???) sticking into the dirt.  I found some washi tape that worked perfectly as an accent for the tag, stamping the sentiment on it using StazOn ink.

Next I wanted to show how easy it is to mix and match sets from Avocado Arts!  The cute little picket fence works perfectly with the tree image from Perfectly Perfect Day (the clouds are from this set also)!  I didn't even color it in, just left it white and it works!   Since I had my little basket of washi tape out I found this green stripe and used it as "grass" to ground my images.  The little flowers are made using sequins and rhinestones, aren't they adorable?!

Last, but not least, this card was pretty quick to whip up, just find a cute patterned paper to use as a background, then stamp the seed packet image and flowers and color them to match.  I added a bit of twine around the bunch of flowers and rhinestones to the flower centers.

I hope I've inspired you just a bit and given you some ideas on how to use this crazy cute set!  Be sure to check out the Avocado Arts blog to find out when the rest of the Pit Crew posts and have a wonderful weekend!

Avocado Arts Day!

Hello! Another great day to play with my Avocado Arts stamps and the set of the month, Spring Medley!  The Pit Crew Too is posting today and I know there'll be lots of goodies for you to see.

My card today is a bit on the CAS side but was so fun to make - it just makes me giggle!

So I thought it would be fun to make this sweet little bunny peep look like a real peep!  My first thought was to color some sugar with food coloring (which my almost-11 year old learned how to do last year at baking camp), but we couldn't find my food coloring pastes - think I may have thrown them out after turning my hand purple one too many times!  So, Plan B - I ran stamped the bunny, cut it out and then ran it through my Xyron sticker maker and dipped it in sugar.  I really pressed the sugar in there to make it stick and make sure it as mostly covered.

Then, believe it or not, I colored the sugar with a Copic marker!  I used the chisel end and instead of coloring back and forth, I just sort of pressed it around on all the sugar so I wouldn't scrap it off.  This probably wouldn't work well for a card you had to mail, but I know some children who would love a card like this in their Easter baskets! *wink, wink*

The rest of the card is pretty straightforward.  I used the grass and cloud stamps from Perfectly Perfect Day and the little flowers are from Avocado Type.  I love how all these great stamp sets work perfectly together !

I'm hoping to get some better pics taken in the morning - photographing a white card at night does not work well, the pink is really a hot pink (not so coral-looking like it looks on my screen).

Here's the list of Crew members posting today and don't forget to visit the AA blog!  Happy Friday everyone.  I'm off to finish cleaning up for my son's 8th birthday party tonight - his first sleepover! Wish me luck!

Avocado Arts Day!

Hello!! Today's the day that the entire Pit Crew from Avocado Arts is sharing projects today made with month's set, Spring Medley - and you may just see a peek or two of next month's set!

I wanted to make something soft and Spring-y today and the flowers in the set were just the ticket!  I  also used the Digital Die Cut file that matches the stamp exactly and makes papercrafting just so much easier!

Since the Digital Die Cut file for the large flower and the larger leaf have those lovely holes already cut into them I decided I'd turn them into mini-shakers.  Now it was a bit challenging to cut my foam adhesive thin enough to line the leaf with, but not impossible and the end result it definitely worth it!

The flower is filled with microbeads and the leaf is filled with glitter.  And since you can't have too much bling, I added a pretty pink rhinestone to the flower center.

I love the artsy feel of the Amy Tangerine patterned paper, which is where I took my colors from.  In the bottom right corner I added a few strips of washi tape stacked on each other and then used a sentiment from next month's set to complete the card.

I hope you enjoyed seeing today's project and now it's time to see what the other girls have made, I'm sure you'll be inspired by them all!

NEW Avocado Arts!

March 7th means the Pit Crew Too from Avocado Arts is sharing our creations with this month's set, Spring Medley!! And we have a new dt member, someone you all know and love - Ms. Tenia Nelson!! Give her a big welcome, we're thrilled to have her join our little group!

This month's set is full of fun, Springy images, flowers, butterflies, lady bugs and PEEPS!! Yup, they are trendy, they are in and they are here!  Now as I looked at the set I thought wouldn't a peeps card be super cute?! Well yes, yet it would!  And since Avocado Arts has the coordinating Digital Cut file available it was super easy to make!

To start, I opened the file in my Silhouette Studio software.  I deleted all the images except the small, solid peep. I then made it larger, basically just pulling at the corner until the bunny was just about 5.5" tall.  Then I positioned the bunny at the bottom of the page and using a really cool feature on the Duplicate menu, I clicked on Mirror Image Above.  All that I had to do now was move the top bunny down just a bit so that the ears were overlapped enough to make a folding area.  With both bunnies selected I clicked on Weld (which is on the very bottom left area) and viola!  Peeps card complete!

Click on the image to enlarge
Once my cards were cut out I used the same peep to make a slightly smaller layer which I then cut from patterned paper.  I added rhinestone eyes and a bit of twine for a bow around the neck.

Although I thought it was quite cute left plain (more like a real peep, you know?), I found that the leaf images in the Spring Medley set were the perfect size to fill in the ears - fun!! I simply used the Digital Cut file and then stamped them with the polka dot leaf image.

The tag was made using the Digital Cut file for Bold Celebrations.  I enlarged it slightly so that my sentiment would fit.  Then since I had it out and was having fun, I cut out one of the flowers from the Spring Medley set and used that to layer on my sentiment tag.  So many possibilities!!

Thanks for visiting today - I hope you were inspired and maybe give this a try!! These would make super cute Easter cards, don't you think?!   Take a few minutes now and visit the rest of the Pit Crew Too today!  Have a creative day!

Avocado Arts & Birthday Wishes!

Today it's the Pit Crew Too sharing the Avocado Arts February set, Special Delivery!  I was totally inspired by the current cover of Paper Crafts Magazine for this one.  There's an adorable card (by Alice Wertz) with a cut-out pig, CAS, yellow and fabulous!  I decided to try something similar with my Avocado Arts stamps and this is what I got!

So I paired up Special Delivery with Bold Celebrations, which has the balloons and used the Digital Cut File to cut the balloons from my panel.  It great that you can move, rotate and fuss with the digital files to get them  just the way you want them!

I stamped the package/present from this month's set onto some patterned paper for a pretty pieced prezzie, then tied some Divine Twine in a triple loopy bow to add to the top.

The sentiment is also from Bold Celebrations and just seemed to give some nice interest down the side - of course with the bling! :)

Stop by these other Pit Crew blogs today and leave them some love! Thanks everyone - have a great day!

Avocado Arts March Peek & Giveaway!

Good morning!  Today the whole Avocado Arts team is sharing a sneak peek of the March Stamp of the Month (MARCH!!!), Spring Medley along with the February set, Special Delivery.  We also have our monthly giveaway - details below.

I used several of the stamps from next month's set, pairing them up with a sentiment made from both sets.  Here is my one layer card for today.

I started by masking off the square for my images and then stamping them using a light brown ink so that I didn't have any harsh black lines.  I colored the images using Copic markers and then sponged on the color around the edges to define the square.

To finish I simply added the sentiment and a few pearls/rhinestones - pretty simple really!

Thanks for visiting today.  Now it's time to the rest of the Pit Crew.  Leave comments along the way for a chance at today's prizes (4 cute stamps sets shown below!).  Have a great day!
