The {Awful} Eiffel Tower . . . not!

Ok, so this Eiffel Tower is not awful but that's what I think of every single time I say Eiffel Tower! Do you know what movie and song that is from??

It's time for another project from Say It With Letters (can't believe it's the last of my term, wow time flies!!).  This month the dt is showcasing a fabulously fun new shape, Eiffel Tower.  You definitely should check out the Say It With Letters Blog for a great little tutorial by my friend Kim, using this shape and stay tuned for more photos from the design team - each person did something totally different and definitely amazing!

I originally wanted to cover my entire piece with rhinestones - wouldn't that be awesome!? Someday I will do that, but for this projects I used the next best thing - GLITTER!  What a super fast, easy and WOW project this is.

I'm hoping to get a better photo of it today, but if you click on this one to make it bigger it looks better!  I first painted the entire piece white and then I measured off three sections and colored the red and blue parts with markers (I didn't want white showing through the colored glitter).

The fun part was pressing each section with a Versamark pad, adding some Heat & Stick powder, hit it with the heat gun, then add glitter and reheat it.   The sparkle is so FUN!

As a final detail I added rhinestones where each color meets and a tiny blue one at the top.  My husband thinks that you, my dear readers, won't know that the French flag is blue, white and red but I know better - you all are smahhhtt! (said in my best Maine accent - lol!)

Thanks for stopping in today, I hope you have a beautiful day!

  1. Very cool Julie! Totally get the colors being France's flag...however, have a slight advantage due to missions conferences in our church and had a missionary represented from France. LOVE the sparkle and rhinestones. Awesome creation...and movie/song, thinking muppets, but probably wrong.
