A New Kitchen Sink Stamps Day!
Are you ready for a new Kitchen Sink Stamps Crew Challenge?! We have a special Guest Challenger this week, Emelia who was our "Thinking Outside the Box" winner of the What's Cook'n With Your KSS Contest in October. See a bit about Emelia (she's from Italy!) and read her challenge on the KSS Blog. She challenged us to make a gift for a friend or relative. We had to alter a tin, bag or box, use NO patterned paper, KSS stamps only of course, and every project must have ribbon! My reaction was like most peoples . . . NO dp?!! :) Have I gotten to the point that I rely on that too much? Is that possible? It's not that hard once you start! :)
I made up a batch of Sweet & Spicy Almonds that I like to give around Christimas - they are quick and easy to make and a little something different that most people seem to like! I wanted to make a package for them that also would be quick & easy but still look nice. I came up with 2 different options.
First, I used a small glassine bag, a sentiment from 3 Step Poinsettia and the small holly from 3 Step Mistletoe & Holly. This was super quick and I love that the sentiment says a "holiday filled" - perfect!! I used Palette inks when stamping on the glassine bag but you do still need to give it some time to dry or else it will smudge! To keep the bag closed I added a button and threaded some green raffia through the holes. This took about 10 minutes tops!
Next, I had a couple of the clear hinged top tins left from making nugget tins last year. I stamped some wax paper to line them with, again using Palette ink and allowing some drying time. I used Playful Christmas, taking every size solid tree and placing them on 1 big block in a pattern to save time with the stamping. Then I stamped randomly using the starbursts from Backgrounds & Borders.
I added a simple belly band which I made with the same starburst pattern (the set has a big pattern and a scaled down version - love it!). This time I used the paper as my "faux ribbon" and made a paper "bow". A simple tag made with the same Playful Christmas set finished it off.
Both of these little gifts would be so simple to mass produce - in fact I think I'll be doing that myself!!
Take a look around and see what the other KSS Crew members came up with:

Dee Jackson
Lori Tecler
Lynn McAuley
Maria Colosimo (Owner)

Tammy Hershberger
Then play along! Get our your supplies and show us your idea for gift containers!! Upload your creations and link them in the KSS Group on Paper Craft Planet and use KSCC#3 for the tag if you upload your photo on the Planet. There will be a special Discussion Thread for KSCC#3!
