Batik Butterfly
Here's a card I never shared with you and in truth I wasn't totally thrilled with it but that was because the colors aren't really moving me - lol! I made this card a couple of weeks ago for the Technique Lover's Challenge over at SCS.
Lynn challenge was very cool - Colorwash Batik - and she gave great instructions on how to do it. I thought since Batik is sometimes done with several layers that I could try it with my Kitchen Sink Stamps multi-step stamps. The only trick here that you have to stamp the image backwards. I decided to use 3 Step Butterflies because I thought they would work well with the batik look and just because I love them!! I first stamped and embossed the Step 3 stamp, then spritzed on some So Saffron colored water. Then I ironed off the embossing as the instructions explain. Next I took Step 2 stamp and embossed that over the first one and spritzed on Cranberry Crisp colored water. Finally, I ironed off the embossing again and finished up my card. I added a little bit of "cross stitching" with linen thread to add a bit of interest.
I think I might have spritzed a bit too much with the colored waters since I ended up with more a blend rather than blotches of color and I wish that I had had some different reinkers to try (I really wanted more of a red & yellow mix to make touches of orange). But I really do like the technique and think I'll have to try it again sometime!
Only 3 more sleeps until I leave for the cruise - can you say EXCITED!!! Yikes!! Let's hope this head cold goes away fast!! :) Have a great day everyone!
