Memorization Project

I have wanted to do this for several months now . . . finally I did it! If you read Lori Craig's great blog Make a Difference then you have seen her monthly Divine Design feature (click on the link to read her first post explaining what it's all about). Basically, each month she and a few others (and anyone else who wants to join) chose a verse to memorize that month and make a card or project with that verse on it.

I am reading John Piper's book Desiring God (well I just started it - again . . . I don't get as much reading time as I once did!). In the first chapter Piper discusses God's sovereignty, a subject I've been drawn to especially lately. "Our God is in the heavens; he does whatever he pleases." Psalm 115:3. It is extremely comforting for me to know that " . . . no purpose of thine can be thwarted" (Job 42:2). God is never surprised or frustrated by events in our lives, He has ordained them! My duty is to obey God, obey His word and commands knowing that God is in control of all aspects of my life and world.

The verse I chose for this month was used in the first chapter of the book,

For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure. Isaiah 46:9-10

I am planning to make a book with my Bind It All to add all my scripture cards to, but for now I just have this one I made using my Kitchen Sink Stamps 3 Step Hydrangea set. The verse was typed out on my computer using these great Bright Colorful Brackets I bought at Shabby Miss Jenn Designs. I can see lots of uses for this very inexpensive download!
Thanks for visiting! I'm working on another KSS card so hopefully I'll have it ready soon! Have a great night! :)

  4. Beautiful card. I am so blessed--my husband and I are members at Bethlehem Baptist Church and John Piper is our pastor. He is away now for the month to finish his newest book on marriage (I bet it will be awesome!). One of my favorite quotes by him is, "Rejoice in this--you are immortal until God's work for you is done." Just let that sink in for a minute. Cool, huh? My favorite book by him if I had to pick is Future Grace--awesome!!! I hope you keep us posted with updates of your scripture book. ;) Have a blessed day!

  9. This is gorgeous... I love how you put it in typeset with that label. Those hydrangeas....seriously loving those. John Piper is amazing. I subscribe to desiring God, too. I don't read it everyday, but I should because he always inspires me. Did you ever read his blog entry from the night his father died. I sat at my desk sobbing that someone could so eloquently put words behind the emotions that affect us all. I might need to read that book, too. TFS, Julie! I love this!
