Hiya Honey - TCP Tuesday 212

It's TCP Tuesday and I'm the Hipster Hostess today.  Our Technique Challenge today is Paper Pleating! Our own Amy Rohl did a fabby little tutorial for Splitcoaststampers last year which you can view HERE. It's an easy  technique that adds dimension and fun to your projects - I hope you give it a try!

I've been in Father's Day mode for a while so as I looked through my stamps I had that in mind.  I decided to use Honey Bear but with a twist!

Remember the new Mustaches CutUps dies?  Well, the two little mustache dies are perfectly sized to add to several of the cute character stamps from The Cat's Pajamas.  I turned Honey Bear, into Daddy Bear by simply adding a fun brown felt stache! :)

As you can see from the close up, I stamped directly onto some woodgrain patterned paper and added some very light shading to the bear and a bit of paper piecing for his tummy and the heart.

And here is my paper pleated strip. I used it to anchor my sentiment (which was cut with the smallest of the Circus Panel CutUps dies) and tied a bit of Linen Thread around it.  I also added a strip of hearts which were die cut using the Heart Border CutUps dies.  Boy oh boy do I love my CutUps dies!! I don't know if I could make a card without 'em! :)

We'd love to have you play along with our challenge this week. You can find all the challenge guidelines on Alma's blog and in the TCP Forum on SCS.  See you soon!

TCP Tuesday 211

Hello!  The new TCP Tuesday challenge was posted yesterday by our Hostess With The Mostess, Jen and it's a beautiful inspiration challenge.  Definitely check it out on Jen's blog or in the TCP Forum on SCS!

I chose to go with the calm, earthy colors from the inspiration photos as well as the CAS feel that they have.

I had a hard time getting the colors to show correctly in the picture - the dark color is brown, not black.  I used several CutUps dies from The Cat's Pajamas for this one, Circus Panels, Circus Border, Pom Pom Flower, and the sentiment flag from the Easy Rosette CutUps.

I used the Pom Pom Flower die slightly differently.  I started with some yummy Felt from The Cat's Pajamas and only used about 1/3 of the die cutting the edges so they would be thinner. Then I took a fairly large glue dot and starting in the middle, wound the flower around much the same way you would for a seam binding flower.  It made a slightly flatter, more daisy-like flower.  The brown button was then just glued in center.  The sentiment is from Simply Said, a definite go-to set for me!

Thanks for visiting today! I hope you'll give this week's challenge a try - be sure to leave a link on Alma's blog if you do!

Let's Pear Up!

Happy Monday my friends!  It's an exciting week at our house as we finish up our school year - YEA!  Although we always do miss it in a small way.  We will continue reading with some good books throughout the summer but the "required" stuff will be done! ;)

The Sketch Challenge over at SCS was calling my name this week (actually I still want to try last week's!) so I pulled out the new Multi-Step Pears set from Kitchen Sink Stamps and got to work.

Since I was in a bit of a hurry I just popped over to the Kitchen Sink Stamps Forum and checked out Maria's wonderful ink recipe for Multi-Step Pear - who knew there could be so many color combinations!  I went with:

Half Pear: (all Memento inks)
Step 3 - (Bamboo Leaves), Step 2 - (Pear Tart), Step 1 - (Dandelion, stamped off), Step 5 - (Rich Cocoa), Step 4 - (Bamboo Leaves

Whole Pear: (all Memento inks)
Step 4 - (Bamboo Leaves, Step 3 - (Bamboo Leaves, stamped off, repeat), Step 2 - (Pear Tart), Step 1 - (New Sprout), Step 5 - (Bamboo Leaves), Step 6 - (Rich Cocoa)

Leaves:
Step 3 - (Olympia Green) Versafine, Step 2 - (Bamboo Leaves) Memento, Step 1 - (Pear Tart) Memento

Take a few minutes to visit the rest of the KSS Crew today to see what they've been up to!  Thanks so much for visiting today!

TCP Tuesday 210 - What a Blast!

Phew this week is flying by!!  Have you checked out the new TCP Tuesday challenge at The Cat's Pajamas yet?.  This week's Hostess With the Mostess is Amy Sheffer - she'll be hosting the sketch challenges while Leigh takes a little break. The sketch was a challenging one for me but I finally came up with something fun.

I used cute little PJ from What a Blast only I cut off the pinwheel he is holding and added a real one made with the Pinwheel CutUps die - love that set and die!!  All the pretty paper is from the Hello Summer 6x6 pad from Echo Park, it has wonderful patterns!

I took a bit of liberty with the sketch (if you're one to compare things closely you'll notice) but it's a good reminder that that's ok! Our challenges are supposed to be a spark for your creativity, something to get you started!  If it's not exact that's really ok!

Now it's your turn to play along!  Visit Alma's blog for the details and leave your link there to be in the running for this week's Cat Cash prize as well as this month's Swanky Stamper title!  Then pop over to the TCP Forum at Splitcoaststampers and chat with us!  Thanks for stopping in today, have a beautiful day!

CAS Cameo

Good morning!! I hope you all had wonderful Mother's Days. I was treated to some delicious fresh fruit and homemade strawberry scones for breakfast (oh, that was after O got sick all over my bed at 6:30 a.m - oops!)!  It really was a lovely day and I am so very thankful for the 5 amazing children I've been blessed with - it's really amazing to think they are all mine! :)

I have a lovely CAS card for you today using the new Kitchen Sink Stamps set, Multi-Step Mother's Cameo.  Cameos and silhouette stamps seem to be very "in" these days but personally I don't think a pretty cameo can ever go out of style!

The background paper is some beautiful flocked black damask paper I've held on to for several years. I stamped my cameo with following recipe:

Step 5 - (Paris Dusk) Memento, (Stormy Sky) Ranger, Step 4 - (Bashful Blue 2x) Stampin' Up!, Step 3 - (Bashful Blue stamped off) SU!, Step 2 - (Summer Sky) Memento, Step 1 - (Summer Sky stamped off) Memento

I made a simple frame using 2 different Nestabilities and added some tiny pearls around the oval. There's not much embellishment needed!

I used some Ocean Seam Binding to act as a grounding point for the whole image (I was envisioning a picture hung with ribbon).

Please visit the rest of the KSS Crew today for more beautiful inspiration.  Have a wonderful week!

Bloom - TCP Tuesday 209

Happy Friday!! This week's TCP Tuesday challenge at The Cat's Pajamas is a fun one from our Hipster Hostess Susan and is brought to you by the letter M!  Susan's stamp/die challenge is to use any stamp (from The Cat's Pajamas of course) that begins with the letter "M" - such as mustache, mug, monkey, magic wand, muzzle (as in a bear's muzzle), music, etc.  We also have to use the Pennant CutUps dies on our card somewhere.

My card has a Mussie tussie on the stamp - that's my M word! :)  I used the Bloom stamp set because I just love the Bun Bun with his mussie tussie bouquet - perfect for Mother's Day don't you think?!

Now, can you tell how I've used the Pennant CutUps dies?  I used the large pennant and cut several from different papers (from 2 LilyBee Designs pads, Handmade and Double Dutch).  I then adhered them to my card in a sunburst pattern around where I was going to place my image (to make that easier, I lightly traced my circle on the cardstock so I could see where it would be).  After everything was stuck down, I  trimmed the edges flush with the card - super easy!

I added some faux stitching using a thin black marker, it just gives it a little extra oommph!

So now it's your turn - head over to Alma's blog or our TCP Forum on Splitcoaststampers for the details on TCP Tuesday.  As always you could win $10 Cat Cash just for playing! Have a wonderful weekend everyone and Happy Mother's Day to all you moms out there!
