Boo! TCP Tuesday 178

lThe newest TCP Tuesday challenge come from our Hipster Hostess Jenny Peterson.  She's come up with a fun color palette this week - check it out!  As you'll see from what the other Cat Packers have created these colors can take you from Halloween to just a beautiful everyday card. We love versatility don't we?

I went Halloween with mine simply because I thought it would be fun and I love that the new Apothecary Emporium pad from Echo Park has gray as a background color in several of the papers.  I even used gray as my neutral cardstock to stamp on!

The stamps are from Fright Night from The Cat's Pajamas, super fun set and it's on sale right now - woot!  The sketch is Karen Giron's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 136.  A bit of sponging around the fun tree gives it some extra eeriness don't you think?  And that little owl with his green eyes - love!  I used some Glossy Accents on all the eyes.

One more week until Sneaky Peek Week starts at TCP!! I can't wait to show you all the fun new goodies Alma's whipped up for you, you're going to love them for sure!  Stop by Alma's blog for all the details on this week's challenge, remember you could win $10 in Cat Cash just by participating and with the new release coming Cat Cash is sure to come in handy!  :)  Enjoy you day everyone!

Autumn Leaves & a "New" Gig

Good morning! A few years ago I was on the Say It With Letters design team.   If you are not familiar with SIWL, here's a quick description:

SIWL specializes in custom cut wall letters and shapes and offer select papercrafting kits, vintage glitter and other specialty items. Each shape is custom cut, hand sanded and unfinished. Made from sturdy 1/2 inch thick MDF (super smooth surface for painting, decoupaging or embellishing.) There are keyholes cut in the back for easy hanging on all shapes and they can cut sizes from 6 inches to 48 inches and in just about any font!
I'm so excited to say that I'm back on the team and will be creating with their wonderful shapes again monthly!  The new team includes some "regulars" (some who have been there since the beginning) and some fresh faces!  Here's the list
:

Here's how it came out - I ended up using Brass, Aluminum and Copper with a different design on each (I used 5mil metal which was a great thickness but I also think 3mil would work just fine!).

Getting a good picture of them was a challenge, shiny is hard to photograph, but hopefully you can get the idea.  For the 2 smaller leave I embossed the metal using a Cuttlebug (one with an embossing folder and the other with an embossing plate).  For the large, copper one I first traced the shape on the copper and then punched it using a hammer and nail.  Once I had my design I cut it out and adhered it to the shape which I had painted.

This was really a fun project, I'd like to try working with the metal again - maybe with proper punching tools! :)

Thanks so much for visiting today - have a great day!

Harvest Thanks

Happy Fall! In honor of the first full week of Fall I pulled out some older, but still very pretty Kitchen Sink Stamps for today!  Fall leaves never go out of style and isn't that really the same for a pretty plaid?  I love pulling out all the warm, woodsy colors this time of year!

For my card today I used 3 Step Autumn Squirrel, Plaid Plus! and Multi-Step Harvest all from Kitchen Sink Stamps.

Again today I used Connie's Friday Sketch from the KSS Forum - it was perfect for what I wanted to do!  I used just 2 of the Plaid Plus stripes and 3 colors (Rich Cocoa - Memento, Crushed Curry - SU! and Potter's Clay - Memento) to make my plaid.  The recipe for my leaves was:

All Memento inks
Red:  Step 3 - Rich Cocoa, Step 2 - Rhubarb Stalk, Step 1 - Lady Bug Red
Orange: Step 3 - Rhubarb Stalk, Step 2 - Potter's Clay, Step 1 - Cantaloupe & Dandelion
Gold:  Step 3 - Potter's Clay, Step 2 - Cantaloupe, Step 1 - Dandelion

Thanks for visiting today!  I hope you will also pop in on the rest of the KSS Crew, they have more pretty projects to inspire you!  Have a wonderful day!

TCP Tuesday 177

Good morning!  I'm the Hostess With the Mostest this week for The Cat's Pajamas weekly challenge (which we affectionately call TCP Tuesday).  The challenge this week is really a twofer - a Supply & Technique challenge! This week I'm challenging you to make a Seam Binding rose for your project!  Have you seen the great video Miss Meowy (aka Alma) made for making a Seam Binding rose? Check it out HERE or HERE!  They're super easy to make and there are plenty of yummy colors of TCP Seam Binding for you to use!

I decided to make a little halloween card using this adorable image from Witchy - isn't she sweet!! The card is made from an Acetate sheets (TCP carries a nice pack of 10 sheets!).  The dp is from the new Echo Park Apothecary Emporium 6x6 pad I picked up at i {heart} papers.

Here's a closer look at my Seam Binding rose - I love how easy these are to make!! I added a little Halloween Divine Twine loopy flower behind mind and a button in the center, a great way to dress it up a bit!

Here's a shot of the card slightly open so you can see how cool the acetate really is! Pay a visit to Alma's blog for all the details you need to know about TCP Tuesday.  We'll also be chatting in the TCP Forum at Splitcoaststampers so come on by!! Thanks for stopping by for a spell!! (hee hee!)

Happy Kitchen Sink Stamps Monday!!  Our family kicked into Fall mode by going apple picking on Saturday.  Now we have delicious, tart apples to eat and we just polished off a fresh, homemade apple pie! Yum!!

I haven't pulled out this Multi-Step Harvest set from Kitchen Sink Stamps in quite a while but it's perfect for all your Fall-themed cards!  I simply adore the cute bushel basket and all the interchangeable contents - here I used the apples of course, but there are pumpkins and mums and even a bale of hay in the set!!

I used the latest sketch from Connie's Friday sketch challenge in the KSS Forum - which is such a great source for color recipes (Maria just added several more!), sketches, challenges, ideas, etc.!
