Peek at the Wild Side

Good Morning!! I have another Prettie Peek for you today.  Remember that the Paper Pretties release will be on Sunday, November 1st at 8 pm EST in the Paper Pretties Party Forum.  We hope you can join us for a fun night!! :)

I'm sure you remember that we have been basing our cards on the lyrics of "A Few of My Favorite Things".  My lyric today is "sleighbells" - phew this one is a stretch!  Ok sleighbells are sometimes silver in color so I added some silver-toned accents to my card, the brads and the ribbon at the bottom - see told you it was a stretch! LOL!!

I used the Sassy Shoes set which will be released Sunday.  I absolutely love this set - the shoes are super fab!!  After coloring my animal print with Copics (who wouldn't love this pair of pale aqua animal print heels?!!!) I added some brown Sparkly Fluff to make the print fuzzy!  The rest is pretty self-explanatory.  Oh the card is 4.75" square.

Now it's your chance to win this set!! Go to my Prettie Girl Gallery at Paper Pretties and leave me a comment telling me what your favorite thing about this card is.  While you're there, leave a comment on this card as well to increase your chance of winning!! You can't win if you don't play! :)

See you at the party!

Cardstock:  Aqua Mist, Dark Chocolate (Papertrey Ink), White (Gina K Designs), Patterned Paper:  October Afternoon, Stamps:  Sassy Shoes (Paper Pretties), Ink: Memento, Accessories:  Nestabilities, Copic markers, Ribbon (Papertrey Ink), foam adhesive, flowers (Prima), brads, Sparkly Fluff (Our Craft Lounge)

Prettie CAS Wednesday (PWC75)

Welcome to Prettie Wednesday!  It's my turn to issue the challenge so I turned to my favorite style lately - Clean And Simple (CAS for short).  Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I have less time to stamp these days - lol!!  Hopefully you began on Christie's blog today.  Then you can hop to each Prettie Girl's blog and be inspired to create your own Prettie CAS card using one of the sketches that we have used. Remember to upload your card to the Weekly Challenge Gallery using keyword PWC75 by next Tuesday for your chance to win a $15 coupon to the Paper Pretties Boutique.

Since we are also in sneak peek week I thought I'd share another of the new sets with you.  This is Love Is and it's part of the Precious Pretties line - my line in fact! :)   I love how making a CAS card makes the verse really take center stage!  The sketch is FTL#20 from Clean & Simply Stamping.

Next stop . . . Danielle!!  I can't wait to see what she's made today!! Have a wonderful day everyone!

Cardstock:  White (Gina K Designs), Black (SU!), Raspberry Fizz (Papertrey Ink), Patterned Paper:  Raspberry Fizz (Papertrey Ink), Stamps: Love Is (Paper Pretties), Ink: Memento, Accessories: Corner rounder punch, ribbon (SU!), foam adhesive, Cuttlebug embossing folder, rhinestones

Prettie Peek Time!

It's almost November - yikes!! But that means it's time for another Paper Pretties release!  Since our Pretties are some our favorite things, our peeks will be based on the lyrics to A Few Of My Favorite Things. Each day several of the Prettie Girls will upload their challenge cards based on a new lyric. If you stop by the Pretties Gallery and leave that Prettie Girl a comment on what your 'FAVORITE THING' about her card is, you'll have a chance to win the new set that has been used in that challenge? The contest will end November 2nd and the winners will be posted on the Paper Clip. You can find the link to the specific cards in the Paper Pretties gallery on each blog post.  Today Frances, Jackie and I are sharing peeks!

My lyric today is "warm woolen mittens." So above is my inspiration - a picture of some pretty nordic type mittens.  I took the colors and made this card using one of the new sets, Sassy Shoes. How cute is that shoe, seriously!!??!!  This set is so much fun!! The big flower is a separate stamp which I pieced using the red herringbone paper - love it!!

Go leave a comment in my gallery HERE for a chance to win!  And don't forget about the Design Team call ending today - don't you want to be a Prettie Girl?! :)

Cardstock:  Black, White (SU!)
Patterned Paper:  Red Herringbone (Little Yellow Bicycle)
Stamps: Sassy Shoes (Paper Pretties)

I just love this set!! How cool is that big beautiful moon!! And that very beautiful, very realistic owl?! Wonderful!!  I used a clear Glaze pen to give the moon a bit of shine. Oh and once I was done stamping the owl I used a yellow glitter pen for his eyes.

Prettie Treats Wednesday (PWC74)

It's Prettie Wednesday! Time for another Challenge and a chance for you to WIN a $15 coupon to the Paper Pretties Boutique.  Today's challenge is from Frances and it's to create something for a Halloween Treat - a box, bag, lollipop holder . . . whatever! Did you start today's hop on Christie's blog? Go there now if not, I'll wait! :)

I wanted to find something a bit different but something quick.  As I was flipping through the October 2009 issue of Cards magazine I came to an adorable treat holder made by Lea Lawson - it's pure genius!! (see Lea's version here). So I did what we all must do when we find something amazing - I case'd it!! :)

For my version of the treat holder I used a box that some fun Doodlebug buttons came in (looks like the same one that Lea used even!).  The stamps I used were Pick of the Patch from Paper Pretties.  I simply cut down a piece of patterned paper to the size of the package and added a band around the top with a cute little hang tag.  I stamped the sentiment on the outslide of the package using Stazon and filled it with Skittles - done!

So now it's your turn, let's see what treat containers you have up your sleeves! Remember to upload them to the Weekly Challenge Gallery at Paper Pretties by next Tuesday night for your chance to win!  Have fun!!  Ok, next up on your hop - Danielle!!  Have a great day!

Cardstock:  Orange Zest, White (Papertrey Ink), Patterned Paper:  I forget . .  Stamps: Pick of the Patch (Paper Pretties), Ink: Memento, Stazon, Accessories:  product packaging, ribbon, Nestabilities, Copics, Twine (Papertrey Ink), Black Glaze pen

Ever Grateful - KSS Monday

Wow it's been several days since I posted hasn't it?  I've been home enjoying life with new baby and being back with my family.  Baby Owen and I are doing just fine.  He's gaining weigh and doing everything that he's supposed to at this point so that's great!

Well, since it's Monday that means another fabulous Kitchen Sink Stamps Monday!  I'm looking forward to seeing what the other Crew members have today - be sure you check them out too!

My card today uses another one of the newest released stamp sets, Multi-Step Harvest.  If you are a lover of all things Fall like me, you must have this set!!  Every image is just the perfect epitome of Fallishness (I think I just made up that word - lol!).  I love the very cool barrel that you can fill with several different things. I chose the mums today.

It took me a few tries to get the color scheme I wanted.  I also didn't realize the first time I used it that for the mums, Steps 2 & 3 are the leaves - stamp them in green! Duh! :)  But after I figured that out it was pretty simple, and think of all the pretty colored mums you could make!  Here is what I used for colors:

Mums:
Step 1 - Dandelion (stamped off) - Memento

Step 2 - Ripe Avocado - PTI

Step 3  - New Leaf - Memento

Step 4 - Hibiscus - PTI

Step 5 - Rhubarb Stalk - Memento

Basket:
Step 1 - Desert Sand - Memento

Sep 2 - Creamy Caramel - SU!

Step 3 - Rich Cocoa - Memento

Step 4 - Chocolate Chip - SU!

Hay:
Step 1 - Desert Sand - Memento

Step 2 - Desert Stand
Step 3 - Rich Cocoa - Memento

I also used a pumpkin from the Multi-Step Pumpkins set and popped it up with foam adhesive in front of the hay bale (don't you just love that hay bale?!!) Oh and how about the sentiment?  This set, Multi-Step Harvest has a wonderful mixture of fonts and sentiments - the combinations are perfect!

I hope you have a wonderful Monday! If you haven't already, be sure to check out all the new KSS - there's something for everyone!!

Cardstock:  Kraft (Papertrey Ink), White, Patterned Paper:  Everday Dots (Papertrey Ink), Stamps:  Multi-Step Harvest, Multi-Step Pumpkins (Kitchen Sink Stamps), Inks: see above, Accessories:  Burlap, Ripe Avocado ribbon (Papertrey Ink), foam adhesive, Corner rounder punch

Prettie Colorful Wednesday

Welcome to another Prettie Wednesday - another chance for you to win!  Our challenge today is from Christi and it's a color challenge:  Ruby Red, Not Quite Navy and Barely Banana.  Make your card using Paper Pretties stamps and that color combo - upload it to the Paper Pretties Challenge Gallery by next Tuesday night for a chance to win a $15 coupon to the Paper Pretties Boutique!

For a bit of inspiration the Prettie Girls have all made cards for the challenge.  You should have started at Christie's blog today and not it's my turn!  I used one of Paper Pretties newest sets, Frosty for my card today with a square layout.  I think this little snowman guy is just about the cutest, isn't he?!  I also used this as an opportunity to use my new Spellbinder's Impressabilities  Snowflake die.  I need to do a bit more research and figure out exactly what "sandwich" I need to use for my Cuttlebug, but I did a Letterpress technique with it (basically, I inked the die with Fresh Snow ink and then put my paper on top and ran it through the Cuttlebug.  It left the paper beautifully embossed with white snowflakes - love it!!

ETA:  There's a DT call going on at Paper Pretties!  If you love Paper Pretties (and who doesn't?) and would like to be a Prettie Girl, see this post for all the details!  Your next stop on the Prettie Wednesday hop is Danielle!  Have a Prettie Day!! :)

Cardstock: Ruby Red, Not Quite Navy, Barely Banana (SU!), White (Gina K Designs), Stamps:  Frosty (Paper Pretties), Ink: Black (Memento), Fresh Snow (Papertrey Ink), Accessories:  Swarovski Crystals, Nestabilities, Copic Markers, Snowflake Impressabilities

I also made this card for the Embellish Circle Card Color challenge. The challenge is to make a circle card using blue, green, white & brown (optional).  This worked perfectly for my Multi-Step Tree set!  The sentiment is from Vintage Words - one of my favorite word sets ever!! I stamped it on a piece of vellum, cut out the circle and then cropped it down to just a strip which I adhered across the card.

October Afternoon Meets CAS

Good morning!! This will be my last "live" post - tomorrow is the BIG day!  I survived the amnio yesterday and it wasn't nearly as bad as I had been anticipating.  The results came this morning and everything looks great so we're looking forward to meeting this baby tomorrow - we'll keep you posted!! :)

I whipped up a quick card last night using this week's FTL #62 from Clean & Simple Stamping. I wasn't sure at first how I was going to incorporate some stamps and I'm not much for making a card with just paper . . . but then I remembered this super cute set I got from October Afternoon several weeks ago!! I've been so busy, I haven't had time to ink it up! It's part of the Road Map collection and I love all the funky, retro designs! What a great travel journal this set and the papers would make!!

Since the stamps are clear I was able to bend my sentiment stamp around the large scallops and stamp it repeatedly . . . kinda like the droning on of the actualy question when the children keep asking, "are we there yet? are we there yet? are we there yet?" LOL!  And how about that car? Love it!  I colored in the headlights and did a bit of shading before I added some crystal glaze to the headlights and windshield.  Just to finish it up I added some thin yellow stitched ribbon (I altered the color slightly with a Copic marker).

Thanks for visting today!  I'll have some pre-made posts for you over the next couple of days and next week just so you don't get too bored here - remember there's a KSS release on Monday!  Have a great day!

Cardstock: Vintage Cream (Papertrey Ink), Patterned Paper: Dew Drop Inn, Shady Lane RV Park (Road Map Collection, October Afternoon), Stamps: Road Map Clear Stamps (October Afternoon), Ink:  Olympia Green (Versafine), Tuxedo Black (Memento), Accessories:  Diamond Glaze (Judekins), ribbon (Michaels)

Prettie Sketchie Wednesday - PWC72

Our Paper Pretties challenge today is another one of Danielle's amazing sketches! Don't you love a great sketch - I always feel like more than half the work is done for me!!  Here's the sketch.  If you want to play along with the Prettie Girls you have until Tuesday, Oct.13 to upload your photo in the Paper Pretties Challenge Gallery. One person will win a $15 coupon to the Paper Pretties Boutique - plus we just love seeing your creations!! :)

Remember, since Prettie Wednesdays are now a hop, you should have started on Christie's blog!

Ok, so for my card I used one of the super sweet new images from Paper Pretties new illustrator, Jennifer Lambien, Happy Birth Day Lamb!  I just love the sweetness of this image - perfect for birthdays and birth days - lol!  I used it to make a cute welcome baby boy card (no, that's not a hint - we have no idea what "flavor" baby is! hee hee!)

I love blue and yellow together and had fun using different shades and textures.  The patterned paper is some I've had for years! I also had a chance to pull out my clear glaze pen and make the dots on the balloon a bit shiney!

Your next stop is Danielle's - be ready for something beautiful!! And once you finish the hop around Prettie-town get out those Paper Pretties' stamps and play along with our sketch challenge - I can't wait to see!!

Cardstock:  Enchanged Evening, Lemon Tart, Vintage Cream (Papertrey Ink), Patterned Paper:  K&Company, Stamps: Happy Birth Day Lamp (Paper Pretties), Ink: Memento, Accessories:  Lemon Tart ribbon, Twine (Papertrey Ink), Star die, Cuttlebug Swirl Embossing Folder (Provo Craft), Nestabilities, Copic Markers, Clear Glaze pen, foam adhesive

1, 2, 3 - It's a New KSS Challenge!

Good morning!  Since it's the first Monday of the month we have a new Kitchen Sink Stamps Crew Challenge for you - another chance to win one of several fabulous prizes!!  Check out the Kitchen Sink Stamps Blog for all the rules and details.

Our challenge today is from Angela:

Easy as 1, 2, 3

Use only 1 Pop Dot, 2 Embellishments (of your choice), and 3 different stamped images. You can use as many layers as you'd like, but please don't use more than the items listed. Want to use ribbon? That counts as one embellishment, but...you can use as many different types of ribbon as you'd like. Make sense?

Ok, here's my card.  I made a mini card, it's 5" x 3" and I love this size!  I used one of the newest sets, Multi-Step Sunflowers with it's different size sunflowers and super cute watering can!  I used one of the smaller sunflowers and made it red instead of yellow (like you see in the bottom left picture on this page).

As I was  making my card I didn't know whether my flower, stem and leaf stamps counted as 3 images or if the flower as a whole was 1 but since it was late I made an executive decision and decided they were 3 images - lol!!  I used 1 pop dot on the leaf.  My 2 embellisments are ribbon (including the vintage lace) and a brad.  I decided to leave it blank for now and decide on a sentiment when I need it.

What a fun challenge this was and I just love that flower!  Here's my ink recipe, oh and for steps 2 & 3, I just inked around the outside of the flower, the petals, without inking the center so it wouldn't get too dark:

Flower:

Step 1- Apricot Appeal,
Step 2 - Ladybug Red
Step 3 - Rhubarb Stalk
Step 4 - Rich Cocoa
Sep 5 - Chocolate Chip

Leaf:
Step 1 - Pear Tart
Step 2 - Bamboo Leaves
Step 3 - Old Olive

Thanks for stopping by today!  Now guess what, October 12  Kitchen Sink Stamps will be releasing MORE new stamps!!  Some beautiful sets you won't want to miss so check out Maria's blog starting at the end of this week for some sneak peeks!  In the meantime, visit the rest of the Crew to see their 3,2,1 Challenge cards!  Have a great week!!

Maria, Dee, Lynn, Lori, Angela, Makiko, Connie, Lisa

Cardstock: Dark Chocolate, Vintage Cream, Ripe Avocado (Papertrey Ink), Patterned Paper:  Farm Fresh (October Afternoon), Stamps: Multi-Step Sunflowers (Kitchen Sink Stamps), Ink: see above, Accessories:  Corner rounder punch, vintage lace trim, Ripe Avocado ribbon (Papertrey Ink), Brad (Pink Hedgehog Crafts), Nestabilities, foam adhesive

WCMD - Seasonal Challenge

Welcome back! Have you finished your tag for the Stamping Around challenge??  Well, finish that up and then check out the 3 challenges that  Paper Pretties is hosting today. The first, from Jana, was earlier this morning and can be seen on The Paper Clip. The second challenge is from Jackie, to create a card celebrating your favorite season.
I LOVE Fall - always have! I love the crisp air, that special color of a Fall afternoon - do you know what I mean by that? The light changes in the Fall and it always makes me feel happy! I love turtlenecks and comfy sweaters and the smell of fresh applesauce cooking on the stove! So my card uses Pick of the Patch from Paper Pretties and since pumpkins are part of Fall I made a shaped card using my Pumpkin Nestabilities.
We'd love to have you play along with 1 or all of the challenges today! Simply upload your card(s) to the Paper Pretties Challenge Gallery by Monday, 10/5 at 11 pm EST using keyword WCMD. You could be the winner of a fabulous new set, Seasons of Joy! Take a moment and visit these other Prettie Girls who have created cards especially for this challenge . . . and then, get stamping!!

First, Stamping Around is hosting a challenge on Paper Craft Planet's WCMD Group Hop!  The challenge will go live at 11 a.m. EST in our Stamping Around Group on PCP and you can also view it HERE on the Stamping Around site!  Check out Kim's ultra-cute tag!!  There's also a list and pic of the great prize package you can win just for participating!!

I need to go get working on my tag . . . see you at 12 noon today for the Paper Pretties challenge! :)

ETA:  I finished my tag!! Yea!! I used a super cute stamp set Autumn Garden from Our Craft Lounge, one of the Class Sponsors at our recent Stamping Around Vermont!  I just love this set and with just a tiny bit of masking it was easy to create a scene (the other part of our challenge) behind the garden gate!  This set sure gives you some coloring practice with Copics or whatever your color medium of choice is.  I even did a bit of distressing around the edges (how 'bout that Kim??!!), I added some light clouds with a sponge and cloud template and used some Sparkly Fluff on the inside of the sunflowers.  Oh, and the crow is cut out and popped up for dimension!

Can't wait to see your tags!!

Cardstock:  Vintage Cream (Papertrey Ink), Stamps: Autumn Garden (Our Craft Loung), Ink: Black (Memento), Riding Hood Red (SU!), Distress Inks (Papertrey Ink), Accessories:  Copic markers, Sparkly Fluff (Our Craft Lounge), ribbon (SU!), button, Twine (Papertrey Ink), foam adhesive, 1/2" circle punch

WCMD

Tomorrow is World Card Making Day - which I'm sure you know about since it's everywhere!! What a fun time to clear your calendar and devote some time to card-making . . . and hey, here's an idea, card sending!! I'm soooo bad about that, but I think I'll try extra hard tomorrow to not only make my cards but send them to some people who need encouragement or thanks!

It'd even be a great time to spend with the family - my children love to make cards!! In fact, today is hubby's b-day and that's what they all did this morning, make him a card! It was so cute to see my 7 yr old helping the 2 yr old make a card for Daddy - complete with Daddy's favorite animal, a deer! Daddy's so blessed that every year either on his birthday or very near it is the opening of the regular bowhunting season - how's that for a present?! :)

So, back to WCMD. I just wanted to pop in and say that I'll have links to a couple challenges for you tomorrow! First, Paper Pretties will be posting 3 challenges for you on The Paper Clip. 1 in the morning, 1 in the afternoon and 1 in the evening. You can pick 1 to do (or all 3 if you like). On the 5th at 11:00 pm we'll draw a winner from the entry's in the Paper Pretties Challenge Gallery (please use keyword WCMD when you upload your card) to receive a Season of Joy stamp set - one of our new releases. You can use any products you like the but main image must be one from Paper Pretties. The winner will be posted on The Paper Clip on the 6th!

Also, don't forget that ALL day on the 3rd you can get 15% off your entire order - even clearance merch! Just enter the coupon code wcmd (case sensitive, no spaces) when you check out!

Second, Stamping Around is hosting a challenge on the Paper Craft Planet site. Just head over to our Stamping Around Group - join up if you're not a member, it's free!! - and play along with the challenge that Kim will post! You could win a fun prize package for your participation - there's stamps, embellies, rub-ons - oh just a bunch of fun card making supplies! :) If you haven't already, check out our website for details on our upcoming Stamping Around PA - we are so excited about the great things happening at this event- brand new things!!

See you tomorrow!! :)
