Prettie Altered Wednesday Peek

Happy Prettie Wednesday! Our Fun Foam challenge was extended last week and I can't wait to see who the winner is - check out The Paper Clip to find out! I saw some great cards in the Weekly Challenge Gallery!! Did you start today at Christie's blog? Make sure you do and follow each link along the way so that you don't miss out on some Prettie-ness!

This week's challenge is from Jackie. She wanted us to alter something, FUN! Like any self-respecting stamper I have tons of things waiting to be altered, but which one should I use?? I decided to alter an ATC album I've had for some time! I am going to use it for all those SALT Challenges that I've participated in.

I used one of the brand new stamps being released by Paper Pretties on Oct 1st. Can you believe that's tomorrow!?!?!? I love the verse quoted here but this stamp is also extra special to me because it's my design! That's right, I made a stamp - lol! It's the first of many soon to be released Precious Pretties - a new line of scripture stamps. This one is called Praise & Thanksgiving.

So, your mission this week is to go forth and alter something! Upload your finished project in the Weekly Challenge Gallery by Tuesday, Oct. 6th and you could have a chance to win a $15 coupon to the Paper Pretties Boutique! Ok, your next stop on the Prettie Hop is Danielle!! Have fun today!

Cardstock: Orange Zest, Vintage Cream (Papertrey Ink), Patterned Paper: Autumn Abundance (Papertrey Ink), Stamps: Thankful Blessings (Paper Pretties), Ink: Memento, Accessories: Ribbon, Button, Twine (Papertrey Ink), Nestabilities

The Cat's Pajamas Haunted Hop!

Welcome to the Haunted Hop sponsored by The Cat's Pajama's!! I was so excited when Alma asked me, as a past Swanky Stamper, to join TCP's design team for this special holiday hop! If you didn't start at the beginning, go to Susan's blog so you don't miss a thing! If you came here from Joanne's blog you're in the right place!

We are all using the Fright Night set today and as a special bonus to you it's available as part of a Kitty Kat Pack which includes the stamp set, a fabulous package of buttons which are great colors and shapes for all your Halloween projects, and a 4 pack of German glass glitter (green, black, purple & orange). All for $24.39 - that's a 20% savings!! PLUS - today you have a chance to WIN a Kitty Kat Pack for your very own - just by commenting on each post along the hop! The winner will be posted on Friday, Oct. 2 on Alma's blog!

So I couldn't decide what images from Fright Night I wanted to use - they are all so stinkin' cute! Instead of just 1 card, I made 3 - each are pretty simple, but I wanted the focus to be more on the cute images and the other parts of the Kitty Kat Pack!

First I made 2 cards using the same layout with different images. I love this bubbling cauldron! I covered mine with some of the black German glass glitter and even though it's hard to capture in a photo believe me, it looks so neat IRL! The button was one from the button pack and had 1 big hole in the center which made it easy to tie on with a knot!

Cardstock: Pumpkin Pie, Black (SU!), White (Gina K Designs), Patterned Paper: MFT, Stamps: Fright Night (The Cat's Pajamas), Ink: Pear Tart, Tuxedo Black (Memento), Accessories: German Glass glitter, white gel pen, orange rhinestone (Kaiser), Ribbon (American Crafts), Nestabilities, corner rounder punch

The second one uses the funny froggy wwizard and I used another fun button from the Kitty Kat Pack! Don't you love the expression on that face - too funny! I also used the ghost image but just masked off 1 ghost here.

Cardstock: Kiwi Kiss, Black (SU!), White (Gina K Designs), Patterned Paper: MFT, Stamps: Fright Night (The Cat's Pajamas), Ink: Tuxedo Black, Grape Jelly (Memento), Accessories: Nestabilities, Copic markers, White gel pen, Bella Baubles, Ribbon (??), Button (TCP), foam adhesive, corner rounder punch

Finally, I made a card using the cute little witch image - she reminds me of Bewitched - definitely friendly! :) I used the image of the candies to stamp a background paper and then used the cauldron again with some bubbly purple goooooooo!!! Another fab button from the pack and some fun black Kaiser rhinestones across the bottom makes this a quick card to whip up! Oh and of course some beautiful purple German glass glitter to accessories our little witchy-poo!

Cardstock: Black, Elegant Eggplant, Crushed Curry (SU!), White (Gina K Designs), Stamps: Fright Night (The Cat's Pajamas), Ink: Tuxedo Black, Grape Jelly (Memento), Crushed Curry (SU!), Accessories: Ribbon (SU!), Twine (Papertrey Ink), Button (TCP), Copic markers, German Glass Glitter (TCP), Black Rhinestones (Kaiser)

Thanks for stopping by! If you'd like to play along with the Haunted Hop we'd love to see your creations - you can upload them to the guestbook on Alma's blog.

Now, your next stop on the Haunted Hop is the ever-fabulous Leigh!!

It's a Lulu Blog Hop!!

Welcome to the LuLu Blog Hop sponsored by Stamping Bella! If you've just happened upon my blog, you can CLICK HERE to start from the beginning at Bloggabella.

If you read my blog you may remember that at Stamping Around Vermont Joanne Basile taught a class and one of her projects was a Lulu card. I had been wanting to order some but after this class I just HAD to order - plus with the new FREE shipping policy for orders over $55 how can you go wrong . . . a few Turtle Tots and Huggabugs jumped into my cart too - hee hee!

So my card today is with Emma from the Lulu Collection. I used some pretty paper from My Mind's Eye and my Spellbinder's Blossom dies to make a girly girl card! The sentiment is actually from one of my Turtle Tots sets.

I was super excited to get a chance to use my brand new Black Glaze pen for her hair and dress. Joanne let us all use hers in Vermont and I came home and ordered a set right away! See in the close-up photo how shiny and black it makes her hair & polka dots?!! The brad in the center of the flower is something I've had forever . . . just waiting for the perfect project! Love it when that happens!! I cut the leaves free hand and pierced them for some interest. Oh, and the flowers in her hair were cut out and popped up with foam adhesive.

How about a prize? In addition to the fabulous eye candy, we have decided to hide a prize somewhere along the hop! One pre-selected blogger will draw a random winner from the comments on her post, and the winner will receive a $25 Gift Voucher to Stamping Bella!!! The fun part is...we're not telling you who it is! So as you hop, make sure you leave comments on every post so you have a chance to win!! We will announce the winner on Monday in the Splitcoast forum. MWAH!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Now it's time to hop on over to Tanya's blog!

Cardstock: Sweet Blush (Papertrey Ink), White (Gina K Designs), Black, Patterned Paper: My Mind's Eye, Stamps: Emma (Stamping Bella), sentiment from Turtle Tots Picking Posies (Stamping Bella), Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento), Berry Sorbet (Papertrey Ink), Accessories: Copic Markers, Spellbinders Blossom die, polka dot brad, Berry Sorbey stitched ribbon (Papertrey Ink), foam adhesive, paper piercer, Black Glaze Pen

My Last SIWL Project

I can't believe it's been a whole year now since I joined the Say It With Letters Design Team! It's been so much fun to work with Deb and all the other super talented designers on the team! It's always amazed me at how differently all our projects end up looking each month - so inspiring! Deb's got a brand new team this year (with a couple returning members) so you'll be excited I'm sure to see even more different styles!

But, before I bid a fond farewell I have one final project to share. I just love this Pumpkin shape - so perfect for this time of year! I had a hard time deciding what to do with mine but then I had a lightbulb moment . . . a cork board would be fun to get out each year and hang by the door or phone! I've had these 12"x12" squares of cork (bought at Walmart I believe) for a while now - perfect. I simply traced the pumpkin shape onto the cork, cut out out and glued it onto my shape. Then I searched through all my fabric scraps for some leftovers of a Fall-themed table runner I made several years ago (still unfinished I might add!). I just cut the scraps into 1.5" squares and starting sewing them together. I'll admit that my sewing here is not the greatest - but I wasn't going for precise this time! :) Once I had a big enough piece to cover my pumpkin, I simply stretched it around the edges and used a hot glue gun to glue it to the back of the pumpkin. At some of the corners I did some clipping to get the fabric in nice and tight.

I can't wait to hang this up and get out the rest of my fall decorations! If you visit Deb's blog you'll see what the rest of the DT did for their projects - there's some spooky fun!! :) Have a great day!

Prettie Fun Foam Wednesday

It's time for another fun Prettie Wednesday Challenge! Did you play this week? Well if you didn't, you are in luck because we're going to give you an extra week this time to play along with our challenge from Christie. The challenge is to use Fun Foam on your card and from now one the Prettie Girls will tell you what the challenge is, show you our samples and then give you a week to play along.

Now, on to the hop . . . you should have started on Christie's blog today. I used one of the sets that was released earlier this month, Game On! I'll admit I don't have any serious gamers in my life so I was a bit stumped as to how to use this set, but I think it could be a lot of fun as a b-day card or just an all occasion card for a boy (or girl) into gaming - and I know there are a lot of them out there! My fun foam is the red square in the background

So remember, you have another week to make a card using Fun Form for your chance to win a $15 coupon to the Paper Pretties Boutique. Upload your card to the Weekly Challenge Gallery at Paper Pretties by 6 pm Tuesday, Sept. 29th.

Next up . . . Danielle!! Have a Prettie Wednesday everyone!

Cardstock: Enchanted Evening (Papertrey Ink), White (Gina K Designs), Patterned Paper: October Afternoon, Stamps: Game On (Paper Pretties), Ink: Memento, Accessories: Nestabilities, Fun foam, Ribbon (Papertrey Ink), Copic markers, foam adhesive

Chair-shed Friendship

Quick post today . . . my friend Amber and I are painting my kitchen and I've got lots to do!! :)

This is another card I made with On My Couch from Papertrey Ink last month - such a fun set to play with! I created this, what I like to call shabby chic meets CAS card by stamping the outline of the chair on Vintage Cream cardstock and then used the little flowers from Flower Fusion set (the CHA set) to create a floral pattern on the chair. A small Spring Moss button was used to make a pillow for the chair. I then took another strip of cardstock, stamped the small flowers on it and box pleated it for the detail across the bottom. It reminds me of a skirt that you might find on the bottom of a chair - fun!!. I found the button in my bag of white/cream buttons - perfect for this card!

I'm off to get some work done and then hopefully finish up painting - have a great day!! :)

Cardstock: Sweet Blush, Vintage Cream (Papertrey Ink) Patterned Paper: Spring Moss dotted (Papertrey Ink) Stamps: On My Couch (Papertrey Ink) Ink: Spring Moss (Papertrey Ink), Black (Memento) Accessories: Sweet Blush ribbon, Twine, Button (Papertrey Ink), Copic marker (Chair legs), Nestabilities, Corner Rounder punch, Foam adhesive

New Kitchen Sink Stamps Project of the Month

Good morning my friends! I'm excited to share my KSS Project of the Month with you today - on Kitchen Sink Stamps Monday! This was also my class project at Stamping Around Vermont and I had so much fun putting it all together.

First, if you remember I had a POM in July - these fun berry blocks. The next week I designed a clear Box for My Blocks and to use for gift giving. I thought the box could be used for so many different things so I tweaked it a bit and came up with this project. Inside the box this time is a class votive holder with a white votive and 2 pumpkin tarts that I found in Ugly Duckling Designs' Etsy Shop. Let me just say too that the owner was awesome to work with! She made and mailed me 80 tarts within about 2-3 days of contacting her! And they smell so yummy!!

Ok, so here's how I made my box. Please click on the collage picture to enlarge the images.

(Note: this box will not hold the 2" blocks that I used for my July project - you would have to change the score lines slightly in order to accomodate the blocks)

  • Supplies: Clear Cardstock: 7" x 11", Patterned Paper: 12" x 2" (cut 1), 6" x 2" (cut 2), White Cardstock: 1 1/2" x 11" (cut 2 pieces), Ribbon: 12" (cut 2 pieces)
    Brads (2)
  • I used Clear Cardstock from Papertrey Ink and cut it to 7" x 11". (For the first few steps I used white cardstock since it was easier to photograph).
  • You then score the cardstock 2 1/2" from each edge on all 4 sides. I found that it was easiest to fold all the score marks before you do any cutting. See Image 1
  • Using the template as a guide, cut on all the solid lines. (the dashed lines are scored but you should have already done this. See Image 2
  • Fold your box, adding red-line tape or Scor-tape on the diagnonal line of the flap which goes inside the box. See Images 3 & 4
  • I used a piece of patterned paper cut 2" x 12" and simple centered it over my box, folding at each corner (this is much easier than trying to get precise measurements and scoring the pp). See Images 5 & 6
  • Cut another piece of patterned paper 2" x 6" and adhere. See Image 7
  • I punched a hole with my Crop-A-Dile on each end of the box, put a piece of ribbon through each hole and added a brad to hold the ribbon together. See Image 8
  • I cut 2 pieces of white cardstock 1 1/2" x 11" for the stamped bands around the box and after stamping them, adhered them the same way as the patterned paper.
Ok, now for the stamping. First of all, I used a brand new KSS set - it has not even been released yet!! Isn't that fun that our Stamping Around VT attendees got to play with unreleased stamps?! :) This set will be released (along with 4 other sets) on Friday, September 25. Stop back later in the week for more details about the release! Here are the colors we used along with the order they were stamped: (NOTE: the images were stamped "out of order" e.g., stamp using Step 3 first, then Step 2, etc. By doing this, it seems to be a bit easier to line up each step. ) Oh, and you can see that I did a bit of masking my pumpkins . . .

Pumpkins: All inks are Memento

Step 3 - Tangelo
Step 2 - Tangelo (stamped off 1x)
Step 1 - Cantelope
Step 4 - Potters Clay (stamped off 1x - do this twice)
Step 5 - Potters Clay

Stems:
Step 2 - Bamboo Leaves
Step 1 - Desert Sand (stamp 2x)

Vines:
Step 3 - Olympia Green (stamped off 1x)
Step 2 - Bamboo Leaves
Step 1 - Bamboo Leaves (stamped off 1x)
Step 4 - Olympia Green

Sentiment:
Rich Cocoa

Phew . . . are you still with me?? There are quite a few steps here, but it actually goes together pretty quickly. Wouldn't this box be cute with cupcakes or whoopie pies or cookies in there? Or for Christmas ornaments? How about some cute little stamping supplies, brads, ribbons, fun embellies and little stamps - love it!! I'd love to see what you make with it so send me a pic or link!! Thanks for sticking with the long post - have a wonderful Monday!! Oh, and don't forget to visit the rest of the KSS Crew today!! :)

CAS Saturday

A Saturday post?? I know . . . but I had a quick chance to complete this week's Fall-To Layout #60 on Clean & Simple Stamping and thought I'd share.

The layout is great - I think it can be used for so many different styles of stamps!! I chose to go a bit cute and shabby for my card today. Isn't that Pig stamp too cute?? He's from Rubber Soul, as is the sentiment, Pig Out! The dp is from October Afternoon's Farm Fresh line that I got to see at CHA - I'm anxiously awaiting it's arrival at my favorite store! :)

The pig is stamped twice, once on the paper and again on a scrap, cut out and popped up with foam adhesive. This past weekend at Stamping Around VT, Joanne turned us all on to Glaze pens - we used black which was phenomenal!! But I used the clear Glaze pen on this guy to make him a bit shiny (which is difficult to capture on film). An added bonus is how the Glaze brought up the color a bit!

Fun stuff coming at Rubber Soul! I've seen a little sneak peek of some holiday images that you are going to LOVE - can't wait until they're released!! Have a terrific weekend my friends!

Cardstock: Soft Suede (SU!), Vintage Cream (Papertrey Ink), Patterned Paper: Farm Fresh (October Afternoon), Stamps: Pig, Pig Out! (Rubber Soul), Ink: Pink Pirouette, Soft Suede (SU!), Accessories: mini pompom ribbon (Maya Road), Glaze Pen, foam adhesive, corner rounder

TGI[Bella]Friday!

Good morning - it's a Bellarific Friday too! :) It's been a while since I had a chance to play along. Ever since Joanne's class at Stamping Around Vermont last weekend, I've had the urge to play with my Huggabugs - seriously, they are just so cute and I loved the sweet Appley Bowl huggabug we used for the class! I don't have her yet though, so I pulled out Cupcake with a Huggabug on Top and some fun new paper from Bo Bunny. The sketch this week was a great, basic sketch that I can see being useful time and time again!

I just love the colors on this card - so soft and pretty with a touch of Kraft! hee hee! I used some glitter to accent the cupcake and of course some bling for the end of the curlies (they're antennae, right?). The corner is embellished with some Bella glittery dots that we got in our cruise goodie bag!

That's all for now . . . I'm hoping to have some stamping time today since I worked hard yesterday!! Hubby was home for the morning so we dug all the baby clothes and gear out of the attic and started getting ready for our new bundle of joy - coming in just 3 weeks now!! WOW! So much to do, but it feels good (and smells good too!) to have some clothes and blankets washed! Have a great day!

Cardstock: Kraft, Sweet Blush (Papertrey Ink), White (Gina K Designs), Patterned Paper: Kitchen Spice Nutmeg (Bo Bunny), Stamps: Cupcake with a Huggabugg on top, Happy Birthday (Stamping Bella), Ink: Memento, Accessories: Copic markers, Nestabilities, Foam adhesive, Bella Dots Glittery Sky (Stamping Bella), Ribbon (Papertrey Ink), Glitter (Martha Stewart)

SALT Challenge: The Final Word

It's time for another Salt Challenge and today's challenge comes from Tanis, her topic is Listening to God. Please visit the Salt blog to read her excellent write-up. As I spoke to my husband about this topic, he put me on a bit of a different track. As Christians we desire to know God's will, to hear His voice and follow His path. My husband pointed me to Hebrews 1:1-2 where it says: "In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days He has spoken to us through His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, and through whom He made the universe."

Jesus is God's final word to mankind. Matthew Henry calls us to examine "God's method of communicating his mind and will [in these] last days as they are called . . . . The times of the gospel are the last times, the gospel revelation is the last we are to expect from God. There was first the natural revelation; then the patriarchal, by dreams, visions, and voices; then the Mosaic, in the law given forth and written down; then the prophetic, in explaining the law, and giving clearer discoveries of Christ: but now we must expect no new revelation, but only more of the Spirit of Christ to help us better to understand what is already revealed." (Henry, Matthew. "Commentary on Hebrews 1." . Blue Letter Bible. 1 Mar 1996. 2009. 17 Sep 2009.)

As we seek to listen to God we should be careful to not seek God apart from His Word and His final Word - the son, Jesus Christ. I was reminded of another song by Michael Card which I've added here for you to hear and read. The text is based on Hebrews 1:2 and sums it up perfectly.

Lyrics | Michael Card - The Final Word lyrics

My ATC today uses a portion of Hebrews 1:2 and focuses on the incarnation of The Final Word - Jesus. The stamp is from Paper Pretties, The Nativity. I hope you visit the rest of the Salt team to be blessed by their work on this topic. We also invite you to play along and leave us a link!

Weekend Recap

I thought you might be interested in seeing a few pictures of our fun Stamping Around weekend in Vermont! Kim did a fabulous wrap-up on the Stamping Around website, so check that out or me pics but here are a few of mine.

Welcome to Stamping Around Vermont! By the end of the day the sides of the sign had started to relax - lol!

This is the teacher's table (this was when Cindy was teaching her class sponsored by Our Craft Lounge and eclectic Paperie - cardstock was provided by Gina K Designs)

Jenn Shurkus taught a wonderful class sponsored by AMuse!

Our stampers are hard at work.

Our first class Friday night was so much fun! Erika Martin had us complete an 8x8 canvas board using paint and patterned paper scraps! Each person's came out so unique and beautiful! See the Stamping Around site for a picture of several of them lined up together. My canvas turned out very bright and colorful as I used lots of fun scraps from October Afternoon.

The first class on Saturday morning was taught by Joanne Basile and sponsored by Stamping Bella (patterned paper provided by eclectic Paperie, cardstock by Gina K Designs and die cut box by Jody Morrow). Seriously, how cute are those cards??!!

The second class was taught by Cindy Lawrence and sponsored by Our Craft Lounge (again, patterned paper was from eclectic Paperie and cardstock from Gina K Designs). Cindy made these adorable, uniquely-sized cards with a wonderful box to put them in an envelopes with patterned paper flaps! We had lots of great coloring therapy with these first two classes! :)

Next up, Jenn Shurkus and her wonderful AMuse halloween cards - 5 in all! Yes, 5!! Jenn was ultra organized and the nice, clean style of AMuse made them quick and fun to complete!

Finally, it was my turn! It had been a long, busy day of stamping but we needed to complete this cute, clear box filled with wax pumpkin tarts and a votive candle. My class was sponsored by Kitchen Sink Stamps and we used a brand new set that will be released on September 25 (how fun that we got a sneak peek!!). This project will also be my Project of the Month for KSS so watch my blog for complete details and instructions next week!

I hope you've enjoyed the quick review and pics . . . if are anywhere close to Allentown, PA check out the details or our next event, Stamping Around Philly, taking place Nov. 6 & 7!
